King Arthur Legion IX – out on Xbox and PlayStation

Prepare for a clash of legends unlike any other! King Arthur: Legion IX, a brand-new, standalone turn-based tactical RPG set in the dark fantasy universe of King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, launches on Xbox and PlayStation.

Developed and published by the seasoned team at NeocoreGames, this Roman-themed adventure arrives on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 (joining the previously released PC version).

While set in the same grimdark Avalon as King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, Legion IX offers a completely fresh story and perspective, welcoming new players while providing tough challenges for returning veterans.

The Eagle Lands in Avalon

Forget Camelot and chivalry – this time, Rome has come to the mythical island. A new threat looms as the long-lost, infamous Ninth Legion, now undead soldiers risen from Tartarus, sets foot in Avalon.

You play as their commander, the fallen hero Gaius Julius Mento, granted a demonic legion by the dead emperor Septimus Sulla.

Your initial goal was escape, but upon arriving in the magical realm of the Lady of the Lake, Gaius sees opportunity: subjugate the island and establish an Eternal Rome. First, however, you must gather your lost legionaries scattered across this hostile land.

Tactical Combat Meets Roman Might

NeocoreGames, known for titles like The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing and Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, brings its expertise in RPGs and tactical combat to this unique hybrid:

  • Character-Centric Tactical RPG: Manage and control a party of 5-6 unique heroes drawn from the undead legion.
  • Deep Turn-Based Combat: Utilize cover, traps, flanking, and an in-depth overwatch and opportunity system to dominate the battlefield like a true Roman tactician.
  • Roman Perspective: Lead your legion against Avalon’s inhabitants: Pict tribes, monstrous Fomorians, cunning SĂdhe, and even Sir Mordred’s Knights of the Round Table across 15 handcrafted missions.
  • Hero Progression: Level up your six unique heroes, unlock skill trees, and loot, equip, and craft hundreds of artefacts to create the deadliest fighting force Avalon has ever seen.
  • No Permadeath: While battles are tough, heroes don’t face permanent death, encouraging tactical risk-taking with unique skills, Ultimate Skills, and World Abilities.

Build Eternal Rome & Choose Your Path

Beyond the battlefield, strategic management is key:

  • Rebuild Nova Roma: Construct and expand your stronghold, ensuring you have the right facilities to prepare your heroes for quests.
  • Manage Scarce Resources: Keep your burgeoning Roman colony afloat through careful resource management.
  • Regain Your Humanity… or Don’t: Gaius Julius Mento stands at a crossroads. Your decisions throughout the campaign have far-reaching consequences, influencing gameplay and narrative, ultimately determining whether Gaius restores his humanity or fully embraces the power of the demon granted by Emperor Sulla.

Key Features

  • Standalone Tactical RPG: Set in the King Arthur: Knight’s Tale dark fantasy universe.
  • Roman Legion Campaign: Play as undead tribune Gaius Julius Mento aiming to conquer Avalon.
  • Deep Turn-Based Combat: Master tactics like cover, flanking, overwatch, and unique hero skills.
  • 6 Unique Roman Heroes: Level up, customise skills, and equip powerful artefacts.
  • Rebuild Nova Roma: Manage resources and expand your stronghold.
  • Meaningful Choices: Your decisions impact the narrative and Gaius’s ultimate fate (Human or Demon).
  • Multiple Difficulty Modes: From story focus to brutal, unforgiving battles.

Will You Forge Eternal Rome Today?

King Arthur: Legion IX offers a compelling new perspective on the dark fantasy world of Avalon, blending deep tactical combat with character-driven RPG elements and impactful choices.
