A Major Milestone For Dragonwilds
Few games have made quite the impact RuneScape: Dragonwilds has since entering Early Access on Steam. While the MMORPG roots of the franchise remain hugely popular, Dragonwilds offered something completely different – taking players into a survival-focused experience while still embracing the skills, progression and fantasy world that RuneScape fans know so well.
That approach appears to have paid off. Jagex revealed that the game has already surpassed one million sales during its Early Access period, making it one of the surprise success stories of 2026.
Now the next chapter begins.
Launching simultaneously across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the full 1.0 release will include the brand-new Scorned Wilderness update alongside all content from the upcoming Umbral Sands expansion, ensuring console players jump into the most complete version of the game from day one.
Exploring The Wilds Of Ashenfall
Set on the previously unseen continent of Ashenfall, RuneScape: Dragonwilds drops players into a dangerous world where untamed magical energy has transformed the landscape. Whether playing alone or teaming up with up to three friends, adventurers must gather resources, craft equipment, build their strength and uncover the secrets behind the strange forces spreading across the continent.
Of course, no RuneScape adventure would be complete without dangerous enemies. Familiar creatures return alongside entirely new threats, with dragons looming large over the journey. Ultimately, everything leads towards a confrontation with the Dragon Queen herself.
Survival Powered By Magic
One of Dragonwilds’ biggest selling points is the way it combines traditional survival gameplay with powerful magical abilities.
Rather than simply chopping trees or mining resources by hand, players can harness the anima-rich landscape to speed up everyday tasks and gain powerful advantages. Spectral tools can instantly harvest resources, teleportation abilities help avoid danger, and magical powers can transform the environment in unexpected ways.
Built Alongside The Community
According to Jagex, player feedback has shaped every stage of development so far.
“Our community has been at the heart of RuneScape: Dragonwilds from day one,” said Jesse America, Executive Producer of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. “Every update throughout Early Access has been shaped by player feedback, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. Launching 1.0 this September is a huge milestone for the team, and we’re excited to continue growing RuneScape: Dragonwilds with players for years to come.“
That community-first approach has long been a hallmark of RuneScape itself, and Jagex appears keen to carry that philosophy forward as Dragonwilds enters its next phase.
Dragons Await This September
With more than a million players already having stepped into Ashenfall, RuneScape: Dragonwilds has proven there’s plenty of appetite for a survival adventure set within the iconic RuneScape universe.
The full launch on September 15th promises to be the biggest version of the game yet, finally bringing the experience to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (the Xbox Store page is up if you want it) players while delivering new content for the existing PC community. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to begin your dragon-slaying journey, September might just be it.
