Stalker 2 Stories Untold
There are some Untold Stories in Stalker 2

The Zone is calling once again, and this time, the signal is impossible to ignore.

GSC Game World has officially released a massive content drop for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Titled the ‘Stories Untold Content Update’, this expansion is available right now on Xbox Series X|S and PC, bringing with it a wealth of narrative-driven content, fresh locations, and tactical gear – all completely free for existing owners of the game.

This update arrives just as players are settling into the harsh rhythms of the exclusion zone, offering hours of fresh gameplay and deepening the mystery of the world.

A Brutal and Beautiful World

We have already spent plenty of time surviving the radiation-soaked wasteland. In our 4/5 review of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, we praised the sheer atmosphere of the title, stating: “There’s no doubt that this is one of the most immersive, grittiest, most brutal of games, for multiple reasons… However, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl goes and shoots itself in the foot on a few too many occasions.

While the launch experience had its rough edges, GSC Game World is committed to refinement and expansion, and Stories Untold looks to be a substantial step forward.

A Signal from the Deep

The core of this update is a brand-new questline centred around a mysterious transmission disruption near Malachite. This isn’t just static on the radio; the signal is causing disturbing hallucinations, nosebleeds, and headaches among the stalker population.

Players will be tasked with unravelling this mystery in a journey that spans hours of tense gameplay. As you dig deeper, reality will begin to warp, forcing you to rely on instinct alone as the truth pulls you further down the rabbit hole.

Unsealing New Corners of the Zone

The update opens up previously inaccessible areas, adding both new territories and repopulating familiar ones with fresh dangers.

  • New Locations: Venture into the eerie Fairy Tale Pioneer Camp and the dangerous Old Mine in Red Forest.
  • Re-inhabited Areas: Veteran stalkers will find new life (and death) in the Car Dump, Army Warehouses, City Boiler Room, and the Volkhov SAM.

Your choices matter more than ever. Depending on the paths you take, you may discover entirely uncharted locations or even trigger the emergence of a new Hub in the Burnt Forest. This dynamic settlement could provide a technician, trader, medic, and a safe place to rest – but only if the cards fall in your favour.

Tactical Tools for the Trade

No expedition is complete without the right firepower. Stories Untold introduces the GP37V2, a refined variant of the classic GP37 designed for the tactically-minded.

It comes equipped with a pre-installed suppressor, a low-magnification scope, and a trigger group limited to single and burst fire, rewarding those who prefer precision over spray-and-pray tactics.

Summary of the Stories Untold Update

  • New Storyline: A multi-hour quest involving a hallucination-inducing signal.
  • New Locations: Explore the Fairy Tale Pioneer Camp and Red Forest Mine.
  • New Hub: Player choices can unlock a fully staffed hub in the Burnt Forest.
  • New Weapon: The tactical GP37V2 rifle.
  • Availability: Free for all players on Xbox and PC.

With reality warping around you and threats closing in, this update seems to lean heavily into the psychological horror aspects of the franchise. Whether you are a veteran of the Red Forest or a greenhorn just entering the exclusion zone, there has never been a better time to check your Geiger counter and load your weapon.

The Stories Untold update is live now.

You’ll find S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on Xbox Series X|S through the Xbox Store, as well as on PS5 and PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
