Savage Halloween launches on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S

So we’re about as far away from Halloween as we can get, but that’s not stopping the QUByte Interactive team from delivering Savage Halloween to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. I mean, we can play Halloween themed games all year round, can’t we?

Well yes we can, and that’s exactly what we find ourselves doing with the new release of Savage Halloween on Xbox. Priced at £4.19 and available to play on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Savage Halloween is a bit of a weird one.

The premise is as follows: every single year, without fail, the world is taken over by monsters. These guys roll out of the afterlife to have a huge Halloween party, raving for no less than 24 hours before heading back to where they came from. But not this year. You see, no one is able to leave the rave of the year. And that’s all because of a grumpy old evil vampire.

It’ll be up to you to send ’em back home, joining the resistance and blasting your way through no less than seven different scenarios. Basically, you choose a monster and then stick a bullet in the back of an enemy. Rinse and repeat until all fall before you.

Playing out as an eight-directional shooting 2D platformer with classic mechanics (yeah, we’re not sure we like the whole ‘classic’ shebang either), you’ll get the chance to take on the role of one of 3 characters – James the farmer, Lulu the Werewolf and Dominka, the geek from the depths – as you blast your way through what Savage Halloween has to offer. With boss fights promised and local multiplayer in place should you find a friend to hand, this could well be one of those fun little run and gunners that we used to play back in the day.

Features include:

  • 2D platform with classic mechanics;
  • Shoot in 8 directions;
  • Local multiplayer;
  • 3 playable characters with individual characteristics;
  • Epic and varied boss fights;
  • Varied and bizarre shots.

In order to find out whether Savage Halloween has a place in the more modern gaming world, only a review will tell. And so we’ll provide some thoughts once we’ve spent time with the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. Keep an eye out for those.

In the meantime, get over to the Xbox Store and grab yourself a download. Even if you don’t want to play it right now, you could also line it up for when Halloween rocks up.

Game Description:

In Savage Halloween, the world is taken over by monsters from the afterlife who were trapped in the Earth after a Halloween party.Every year the monsters are invited to the big 24hr Halloween rave, but this time no one came home, as an evil vampire used a spell to block the passage back to the afterlife because, according to him, the party could not stop. Among the guests, James, a farmer who had his eternal rest interrupted, took his shotgun, and decided to end the riot. Join the resistance and send everyone home. No one can handle so much noise, goo, and werewolf hair on clothes anymore.
