Some roguelites throw players into chaos and hope for the best. Savara on Xbox and PlayStation looks far more interested in making players fight smart.
Now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support for ÂŁ16.74, Savara comes from Ankama Games and Doryah Games, blending fast-paced action combat with weapon crafting, build experimentation and the usual roguelite loop of dying repeatedly before finally becoming terrifyingly powerful.
And yes, this carnage is taking place during a giant festival held for a warrior god.

Fighting For The Glory Of A God
Savara drops players into a colourful fantasy world where warriors battle for the favour of Iop, the god of combat. The celebrations are less ‘friendly tournament’ and more ‘violent survival challenge’, with fighters expected to survive brutal encounters against increasingly dangerous enemies.
Players take control of Savara, Iop’s newest champion, fighting through runs filled with monsters, upgrade paths and evolving combat builds. From there, it’s all about timing and reading enemy attacks. Charging in wildly will probably get you flattened fairly quickly, while learning patterns and weaknesses becomes key to surviving longer runs.
Weapons Matter Here
One thing Savara really pushes is combat customisation.
Players can mix different weapon styles together, choosing between thrusting or slashing attacks, one-handed or two-handed setups and multiple weapon variants that dramatically alter how fights play out. According to the developers, there are hundreds of possible combinations available depending on how players build their loadout.
That flexibility should help keep runs feeling fresh, especially once blessings, upgrades and divine powers start stacking together.
And naturally, the stronger you become, the nastier the enemies get in return.
More Than Just Another Roguelite
The roguelite space is crowded these days, but Savara at least seems to understand what makes the genre work. Strong combat, satisfying progression and constant experimentation. There is also a nice sense of style running through everything; the world is colourful, lively and packed with personality instead of leaning fully into the dark-and-grim aesthetic so many action roguelites default towards.
Ready for Savara on Xbox (via the Xbox Store) and PlayStation? Steam reviews, for the game’s previous launch on PC, seem to point to this one being a game to get involved in. But if you do, just be prepared to lose a few fights before Iop decides you are worthy.
