Recycle Bin Battle – out on Xbox and PC

Who knew your recycling could be humanity’s last hope against alien Kaiju? Recycle Bin Battle, an innovative arcade puzzle game with a powerful ecological message, has launched today.

Developed and published by the aptly named overgamestudio, this unique title is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) for £9.99, with a 10% launch discount bringing it down to around £8.99 for early adopters.

Waste Not, Want Not: The Premise

Set in a future where humanity must confront the dire consequences of overconsumption, Recycle Bin Battle challenges players to get creative, using recycled waste itself as ammunition to defend Earth from extraterrestrial threats.

Humanity has exploited 98% of Earth’s resources. As if on cue, an unknown force from space chooses this vulnerable moment to attack. With conventional weapons presumably scarce or ineffective, humanity’s last resort is a newly designed weapon that literally runs on rubbish – the Recycle Bin Weapon!

It’s time to sort your trash and take out the invaders.

Three Stages of Recycled Retaliation

Recycle Bin Battle isn’t just one game; it’s an “amazing game with lot of fun” that ingeniously combines three distinct gameplay mechanics into one engaging and thought-provoking experience:

First, you’ll need to catch Rubbish as it tumbles down a machine, tasked with arranging these items by type and colour.

Successfully doing so makes them disappear and, crucially, forms the “balls” you’ll need for the next stage. This sounds suspiciously like a clever Match-3 combo system where sorting waste items creates your ammo!

Next, you’ll use your recycled balls in a Breakout-style segment. Your goal here is to break through the alien invaders’ defenses. Smashing these barriers will not only clear a path but also allow you to gain vital energy for the final confrontation.

Finally, with the energy you’ve collected, it’s time for some arcade shooter action! You’ll use this power to shoot down giant Kaiju monsters and, ultimately, save humanity.

The game also features four distinct game types: arcade, story, time attack, and score attack, promising varied ways to engage with its unique loop.

More Than Just a Game: An Ecological Call to Action

Beyond the frantic arcade fun, Recycle Bin Battle carries a powerful ecological message. It aims to raise awareness about the critical importance of recycling and sustainable living in an engaging way. As the developers state, “It is more than just a game; it is a call to action for a more sustainable future.

Key Features

  • Innovative Three-Stage Gameplay: Combines Match-3 rubbish sorting, Breakout-style defense breaking, and Arcade Shooter Kaiju battles.
  • Ecological Message: Raises awareness about recycling, overconsumption, and sustainability.
  • Multiple Game Modes: Features arcade, story, time attack, and score attack modes.
  • Engaging Arcade Puzzle Action: A unique blend designed for fun and thought-provoking gameplay.
  • Save Humanity (with rubbish!): Battle extraterrestrial Kaiju using weapons powered by recycled waste.

Ready to Turn Trash into Interstellar Treasure?

Recycle Bin Battle offers a truly unique and surprisingly deep arcade puzzle experience with an important message at its core.

If you’re looking for something different that combines familiar mechanics in an entirely new way, and you fancy saving the world with the contents of your recycling bin, it’s available right now on the Xbox Store (for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S) and Steam for PC.

It’s priced at £9.99, but be sure to check for that potential 10% launch discount. You’ll have to be quick though.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
