Scar’s Kingdom is the first free major content update for Disney Dreamlight Valley

When Disney Dreamlight Valley launched in Early Access via the Founder’s Pack back in September, we didn’t imagine it would be as wholesome as it was. In fact, it sprinkled a ton of that Disney magic to the gaming world. Now though we get hit with the first free major update for the game as we get to traverse Scar’s Kingdom.

Yep, rolling out to Disney Dreamlight Valley right about now is a whole host of Disney’s The Lion King content as we get to help Scar restore the Sunlit Plateau in Scar’s Kingdom.

Scar’s Kingdom is the first major update for the game since launch and arrives alongside the game’s next Star Path season – the Villains Star Path; just in time for Halloween. Dare to drop in and you’ll get to encounter the most recognisable villain from The Lion King as the new season celebrates all things Halloween and villainous.

“From the start, we’ve promised our players regular content updates as part of Early Access and beyond, and we couldn’t be happier to deliver on that with our first update,” said Nicholas Mainville, Game Director for Disney Dreamlight Valley. “Bringing Scar into the ongoing story of Dreamlight Valley and giving players a chance to embrace their ‘bad’ sides, while diving into this unique world filled with brand-new twists should be welcoming to even the most heroic of fans, and we can’t wait for players to hop in.”

If you are unaware, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life-sim crossed with an adventure game, one in which you’ll get to witness the magic of Disney for yourself, joining some of the most iconic characters from the Disney and Pixar worlds. It’s a game that we love – just check out our initial preview – and it’s one you really should be playing pronto, even in the current early access form.

But it’s a game that is going to evolve massively over time and in Scar’s Kingdom, the iconic savanna of the Sunlit Plateau is in peril! The Pillar of Nurturing, once the key to keeping the Plateau vibrant and green, has dried up and is blocked by mysterious, dark magic. In order to bring the Plateau back to life, players must reluctantly team up with Scar, the would-be usurper of the Pride Lands who was trapped while the Forgetting ravaged Dreamlight Valley. Players must aid Scar and restore the Pillar of Nurturing by traveling deep into the Plateau’s mines to find the source of the problem, all while dealing with Scar’s less-than-honest motivations.

Meanwhile, the game’s next Star Path season is dedicated to all things Halloween and Disney Villains, featuring items inspired by iconic films, including Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and more. In order to unlock the all-new and exclusive season cosmetics, players will have to befriend iconic villains, remove Night Thorns from their territory, and spend time skulking around the Valley. New and exclusive outfits, accessories, furniture items, and more await those willing to put heroics aside. Sometimes it’s good to be bad.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, powered by Game Pass should you so wish. You’ll also find the game on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and through all manner of PC options – Epic, Steam and the Microsoft Store.
