The final chapter of humanity’s lunar story is about to be written, and you are the one holding the pen. At least you will be in Lunar Strike.
Cognition Europe has officially announced its debut title, Lunar Strike, a sci-fi narrative adventure and exploration game. Set on a collapsing lunar colony, this unique, no-combat experience is launching on consoles and PC in 2026.
A Race Against Extinction
This ambitious title blends speculative fiction with a game world grounded in hard science, forcing players to make difficult ethical decisions about what parts of humanity’s legacy are saved, and what is lost to the void forever.
Lunar Strike is set in the year 2119 on humanity’s final lunar colony, located at the hostile South Pole of the Moon. The colony is facing an impending, catastrophic threat from the heavens, and its destruction is inevitable.
You will play as a tech-augmented archivist, racing against time to preserve the evidence of humanity’s presence on the Moon before it all collapses. This is not a story about fighting monsters; it’s a character-driven narrative about survival, memory, and responsibility.
Archiving Humanity’s Final Chapter
The core of the game is a compelling blend of survival, exploration, and difficult choices, all unfolding under immense pressure.
In a refreshing take on the sci-fi survival genre, Lunar Strike features no combat. Instead, the gameplay focuses on survival, scanning, puzzle-solving, and decision-making. The tension comes from the ticking clock, the increasingly deteriorating base, and the mounting ethical weight of your choices.
Your primary mission is to build and preserve the archive. Using technologies like 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and archival logic, you will capture the final traces of lunar life. You will be forced to prioritise which real-world historical space artifacts are saved and which are left behind, with multiple outcomes driven by your decisions and values.
A New Kind of Sci-Fi: Grounded in Hard Science
Lunar Strike is a game rooted in real-world science and ethical questions. The developers have collaborated with space researchers to incorporate realistic systems and hazards into the gameplay.
You will have to contend with the challenges of lunar gravity, toxic Moon dust, and real-world physics like orbital dynamics as you navigate the collapsing base.
A Word from the Creators
The team at Cognition Europe is passionate about creating a thoughtful and grounded experience.
“Lunar Strike has been developed from the outset to be grounded in real-world science and lunar research, while delivering a branching, character-driven narrative where every item preserved (or lost) by the player moulds the future record of humanity’s presence on our only natural satellite,” said Brian Pope, Creative Director at Cognition Europe. “Lunar Strike is our way of making a call to action that we should be looking to safeguard humanity’s heritage while embracing technological advancements, including AI, as positive forces for our collective future,” he added.
A unique and thought-provoking journey to the Moon is on the horizon.
With its focus on real-world science, difficult ethical choices, and a compelling, non-combat narrative, Lunar Strike is poised to be a truly memorable experience. The preservation of history begins in 2026. Check out the Steam page.
