Steel Seed – out on Xbox, PlayStation and PC

Prepare to infiltrate a dark, machine-controlled future in Steel Seed!

Steel Seed, the captivating new stealth-action adventure from developer Storm in a Teacup (Close to the Sun) and publisher ESDigital Games, launches today.

Available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), this gripping single-player experience throws you into a hostile underground facility where humanity’s fate hangs in the balance.

Priced at £34.99, Steel Seed is celebrating its launch with a 15% discount for a limited time on PC, Xbox, and for PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS5.

We first got a tantalising glimpse of Steel Seed back in 2023, and now the full adventure is ready to unfold.

Following a cataclysm that rendered Earth uninhabitable, humanity’s remnants are under the control of machines. You play as Zoe, venturing deep into a dangerous underground facility run by AI, searching for answers and the key to mankind’s survival. Thankfully, she’s not entirely alone – her only companion is Koby, a flying prototype drone.

Master Stealth, Parkour, and Dynamic Combat

Steel Seed blends multiple gameplay styles, demanding adaptability from the player:

  • Stealth & Strategy: Utilise shadows, create distractions, and use the environment to your advantage to evade or silently take down robotic foes.
  • Dynamic Combat: When stealth fails, engage in thrilling combat against various enemy types and challenging bosses, each boasting unique abilities.
  • Fluid Parkour: Traverse the intricate facility with agility and speed.
  • Upgradeable Abilities: Customise Zoe’s playstyle via three distinct skill trees offering 40 different upgrades.

A Companion Like No Other: Koby the Drone

Koby isn’t just a follower; he’s a crucial partner. This prototype drone offers guidance, helps solve environmental puzzles, and serves as Zoe’s emotional anchor in this desolate, machine-controlled world. The dynamic between Zoe and Koby forms the heart of the experience.

A Thought-Provoking Sci-Fi Narrative

Explore hauntingly immersive environments, from towering industrial complexes to eerie biodomes, within a hand-crafted world.

The compelling narrative, revised and edited by BAFTA-winning writer Martin Korda, delves into the fine line between human and machine, exploring themes of trust, control, resilience, and despair.

Editions and Availability

  • Standard Edition: Available now digitally on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
  • Deluxe Edition: Available now digitally on PC. Includes the base game, 15-track digital OST, digital artbook, two unique in-game costumes, and 23 HD wallpapers. The Deluxe Edition comes to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 digitally (alongside a physical PS5 edition) on May 23rd.
