The official keyart for Scott Pilgrim EX as it launches on Xbox, PlayStation and PC

Scott Pilgrim EX crashes back onto the streets of Toronto, in a brand-new brawling adventure that you won’t want to miss.

Now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and PC, priced at ÂŁ24.99 on the Xbox Store, Scott Pilgrim EX has been published and developed by Tribute Games.

But this isn’t just a nostalgic encore – it’s a full-blown sequel-style return that throws Scott, Ramona and a host of familiar faces into a time-fractured city overrun by rival gangs.

We covered the release date reveal in our earlier news piece, and now it’s time to step into the chaos properly.

Toronto, 20XX – And Everything’s Gone Wrong

In Scott Pilgrim EX, Toronto has been seized by three rival factions; the VEGANS, the ROBOTS and the DEMONS. Naturally.

When Scott’s bandmates are abducted by shadowy forces, what starts as another bad day spirals into a dimension-hopping, gang-smashing mission across a fractured version of the city. Space and time twist together, reshaping familiar streets into interconnected levels packed with enemies, secrets and side quests.

Series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley pens this new story, ensuring it feels authentic to longtime fans while remaining accessible for newcomers jumping in for the first time.

Madcap Melee With Flair

Combat in Scott Pilgrim EX thrives on improvisation. It’s fast, chaotic and stylish, coming together to deliver a brawler built around instinct and experimentation.

You’ll string together creative combos, wield wacky weapons and unleash exaggerated special attacks that feel ripped straight from a graphic novel panel. The action rewards both strategic planning and spontaneous button-mashing brilliance.

Seven playable characters headline the roster, including Scott Pilgrim (obvs), Ramona Flowers, Roxie Richter, Lucas Lee, Matthew Patel and more. Each fighter brings a distinct combat style, encouraging players to experiment and find their favourite.

Build Your Fighter, Your Way

What you should find is that progression plays a bigger role this time around. Earn coins through combat and quests, then spend them to customise your chosen character.

Special badges enhance stats and grant unique bonuses, allowing for varied builds across playthroughs. Whether you favour heavy-hitting attacks, agile combo chains or defensive durability, the upgrade system lets you tailor the experience to your approach.

It’s not just about surviving the chaos – it’s about mastering it.

4-Player Co-Op Returns

And we all know, brawlers live and die on co-op, and Scott Pilgrim EX delivers with four-player local and online multiplayer.

Drop-in and drop-out functionality keeps things flexible, making it easy to jump into a session with friends. Solo players can take on the streets alone, but the real magic happens when the screen fills with combo chaos and coordinated attacks.

A Fresh Chapter For A Cult Favourite

Scott Pilgrim EX isn’t simply revisiting the past – it’s expanding it. With interconnected levels, character upgrades and a new narrative thread, this is a bigger, more ambitious outing for the franchise.

Available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store), PlayStation and PC for £24.99, it offers a confident return for one of gaming’s most beloved brawling properties.

Toronto may be fractured, overrun and slightly ridiculous, but Scott Pilgrim is back to set things straight.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
