Hot on the heels of the indie publishing house of United Label detailing Tails of Iron, Eldest Souls kicks up some Souls-like Boss rushing, with plans to release on PC and Console in July.
Katana Kata, what a wonderful phrase. It means “a way or form of memorising and improving combat moves”, in this case with the Katana blade. It helps to display where Katana Kata’s interests are: this is a game that wants you to fail, and fail again, until its swordplay becomes so fluid and natural that it forms muscle memory. Yep, this is a Souls-like game, and it takes no prisoners. Katana Kata is out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Switch, where it joins a previous drop on PC.
It’s just been unveiled by Cradle Games and tinyBuild that their dark and atmospheric sci-fi Hellpoint is set for a release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 next year. Current-gen owners of Hellpoint won’t have to pay a penny more to get the upgrade either!
In Mortal Shell, their flesh is your armor. And if that's not a line that sells interest into the newest Souls-like experience to be promised to Xbox One, PS4 and PC players, then I don't know what is.
Dark Souls is one of gaming’s most prolific series and certainly one of my favourites. In fact, it has had such a large impact that it's spawned its own subgenre. There are many experiences that mimic that same brutal tactical gameplay, coming under the “Souls-like” genre.
