It kinda sells itself huh? Testament: The Order of High Human has today been revealed, promising to take the best bits of God of War, Dark Souls and The Elder Scrolls in hope of delivering a stunning action-adventure RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world.Â
In a word: grim. Moonscars takes all the grey, black and blood of the gothic genre and beautifully crafts it into what is a terrifying but entrancing 2D platform-slasher.
Since 2016, a steady stream of tie-in comics has been released that act as a companion piece to the hugely successful trilogy of Dark Souls videogames. In amongst the various four-issue miniseries and anthology comics, there have been many tales that expand this dark and mysterious universe. Now, Titan Comics have released a hefty compendium of everything so far, just in time for Christmas.
Tetris is loved the world over whilst Dark Souls has gained such a reputation that it will forever be feared by many. So what happens when you create a game that plays on elements from both games? Well, you get Loot River and right now the workings of how the isle-shifting roguelike will play out have been revealed.
Ah, Dark Souls, how many times have you killed me? Through three games (four if you count the remake of the original a little while back), my death toll must be in the thousands, maybe even higher. And yet, I keep coming back for more!
It's simple really - transform the world, find loot, and battle through a waterlogged labyrinth. Pretty much everyday occurrences. Or at least it will be when the island-shifting action-roguelike Loot River drops on to Xbox and PC. And yes, it does seem to be as nuts as it sounds.
While we wait for a Dark Souls-inspired kart game or match-3, we’ll have to make do with an isometric action RPG that heavily draws on FromSoftware’s opus.
