Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage goes free early on Xbox One and Xbox 360 via Games With Gold

There’s not one, not two, but three games in one collection here, seeing the classic Streets of Rage trilogy lose the price tag, becoming free for Xbox One and Xbox 360 as part of the Games With Gold scheme for May a litte earlier than planned. With no cost, isn’t it about time we went roaming the streets to kick ass once more?

The Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage brought the entire Sega Mega Drive Streets of Rage trilogy to Xbox 360 way back in 2012, with online and local co-op capabilities in place. Streets of Rage involves ex cops Axel, Blaze and Adam attempting to free New York from the grasp Mr. X and his evil syndicate. The second instalment – Streets of Rage 2 – sees Adam captured by Mr. X and so the other two recruit his younger brother Skate and a powerhouse named Max to safely secure his return. In the final chapter – Streets of Rage 3 – Mr. X is trying to take control of the whole city by replacing important people with robots, while the task force Axel, Blaze, Skate and Dr. Zan make it their mission to stop him in his tracks.

These classic brawlers were hot property back in the ‘90s, throwing unique bosses and waves of enemies your way for you to beat up using an assortment of weapons and your trusty bare fists. Although usually priced at £6.75, Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage is currently free to purchase for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on the Microsoft Store. That’ll allow you to play it on Xbox 360 and also Xbox One – courtesy of backward compatibility.

Pick it up before 15th May, or miss out on the priceless chance to clean up the streets and put an end to Mr. X!

Game Description:

Originally released for the Sega Mega Drive, the classic brawler series has now been updated for release on Xbox LIVE Arcade! Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
