senses midnight

Serial developer and publisher Eastasiasoft are back with their latest title, and this one offers to scare you into next week. Creepy occult research societies? Outlast-esque camera recording? Stalked by a demonic spirit? Triple check with SENSEs: Midnight on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

A 3D Survival Horror

Take one look at SENSEs: Midnight on Xbox, PlayStation or Switch, and you wouldn’t be mistaken for thinking this is the newest Silent Hill entry. The plot is a dark and twisted one: you are student Uesugi Kaho, who is captivated by anything occult and paranormal. One day, she is dared to investigate the infamous urban legend of The Midnight Door of Ikebukuro Walking Park – Uesugi jumps at the chance.

What follows is a 3D survival horror experience that will have you on the edge of your seat, as you attempt to solve this mystery. All the while, you are stalked by an Onryo – the mythological spirit of vengeance, in Japanese folklore. Fans of Ghostwire: Tokyo will be familiar with their flowing white clothing, and terrifying faces.

Resident Evil Inspirations, Too!

With the constant fear of missing out on items, due to your limited inventory space, as well as complex puzzles to solve within the environment, SENSEs: Midnight definitely reminds us of old-school Resident Evil titles too. Oh, and save spots are incredibly limited. So far we are reminded of Outlast, Silent Hill, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Resident Evil – horror fans rejoice!

Add in the fact that Uesugi isn’t the most physically capable character, and a lot of your time in SENSEs: Midnight will be spent trying to evade enemies using stealth, recluding away in hiding spots.

Authenticity comes to the fore in the features

  • Investigate paranormal activity in an authentic Japanese setting!
  • Experience true survival horror with classic tank controls and fixed camera angles.
  • Solve environmental puzzles and explore an intricately woven narrative!
  • Carefully manage limited inventory slots.
