Never before did we think that the iconic yellow blob of PAC-MAN would play a supporting role in a dark-fantasy Metroid-esque 2D action-platformer, but here we are with Shadow Labyrinth.
In a ‘see it to believe it’ fashion, Bandai Namco have released Shadow Labyrinth – a dark and mysterious action-platformer that immediately brings to mind the likes of Metroid and the Ori series, albeit with a familiar yellow orb as a sidekick.
Hacking and Slashing
Now available on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC platforms, Shadow Labyrinth sees you step into the dark and brooding shoes of Swordsmen No.8, who has been awoken by a yellow orb known as PUCK.
In order to survive this desolate world, you must consume your enemies, evolving from a lowly morsel into the true predator of this planet. In a gameplay sense, this will see you take on the abilities of your foes, in order to customise your playstyle to suit how you want to play.
Do you become a nimble hero, and dash around the place, or do you stand your ground with devastating attacks?
Aside from combat, this beautifully-crafted world will be explored through a number of navigation techniques. Across Shadow Labyrinth you’ll be swinging across vines, chaining together jumps, and smashing through the floor of icy biomes, in order to embrace your true purpose. How mysterious!
