Been keeping a beady little eye on what Frogwares have been promising with the upcoming launch of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One? It won’t be long before you get the chance to take in the world of a young Holmes for yourself, especially now that the release date has been confirmed.

Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC on November 16th 2021, with Xbox One and PS4 editions rolling out a little further down the line, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is a story-based open world detective thriller, that focuses on the life of a young Sherlock, well before he became the world’s most famous detective. As our exclusive interview with the Frogwares team revealed, the story follows Sherlock and his companion and best friend Jon as they rock up on the Med island of Cordona. Why? Well, he’s looking for answers to what happened to his dead mother.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One promises to deliver mystery, adventure, clue searching and puzzle solving, all without being led by the hand and told what to do, and when. And honestly, we’re sold on that alone. If you want to get a taste of the action, hit up the trailer below these words.

The developers have also published an extensive narrated gameplay deep dive video and this will cover the opening quest and provide an even deeper look at certain features of the game – things like the Mind Palace, the Holmes family mansion, how combat plays out, and also the various difficulty options that let you tweak or even turn off certain elements such as combat entirely.

And of course, now that a release date is in hand, you’ll find that you will now be able to pre-order Sherlock Holmes Chapter One from the digital stores of your choice – ours being the Xbox Store for ÂŁ39.99, but other options like Steam, GOG, Epic and the PlayStation Store will see you right.

If you do, you’ll discover that you will receive the Victorian Starter Pack which includes a special quest titled “The Lead Zeppelin”, a unique Consulting Detective and The Victorian Vampire in-game outfits, 500 Manghirs (the currency of Cordona Island) which players use for various cosmetic customization as well as a free digital copy of Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments on the same platform they ordered Chapter One on.

But there’s more and a Deluxe Edition has also been revealed. It includes the base game along with the season pass that includes new quests: Saints & Sinners (Available day 1), a questline linked to Mycroft Holmes, a questline which pitches Sherlock against a mysterious shadow figure only known as M and more to be announced later.

So, which edition will you be buying? Let us know in the comments and be sure that we’ll remind you when that November 16th release of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One arrives.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
