For the last couple of years we’ve been seeing numerous retro titles drop on to the Xbox Store allowing the modern day gamer to experience something a little different. Today we see that exact same thing but whereas the focus has previously been on the classics released by SNK, now we turn our eyes towards that of Psikyo and the release of ACA NEOGEO Strikers 1945 PLUS.
Coming in at the slightly higher than usual Neogeo price point of £6.69, Strikers 1945 PLUS was originally released just before the turn of the millennium. Based off of the Neogeo for Arcades version of the game, this new XO edition embraces everything that was good about the original, porting straight over so that those who didn’t previously have a chance to witness the gaming glory days of the late 1990s don’t miss out.
Of course, much like previous Neogeo additions, there are a few little changes being made and we not only see Strikers 1945 PLUS drop us into chaotic dogfights, and we haven’t been left with just the chance to just use Super Shots and Support Attacks. Instead we see the addition of game difficulty settings and the opportunity to reproduce the classic atmosphere of the arcade display setting of the day. If anything, it is the latter which will be able to fully immerse us into the retro experience it brings.
If you’re looking for a new SHMUP and are happy to take on a game that is getting on for 20 years old, then ACA Neogeo Strikers 1945 PLUS is one to seriously consider. The Xbox Store awaits your cash!
