You really can’t accuse Vampire Survivors of being expensive. But you can accuse it of being a ton of fun. And now? Well, the bullet-heaven phenomenon is back with another expansion, as Legacy of the Bloodmoon arrives with new characters, weapons, music and a sizeable new stage – all for the frankly ridiculous price of just 89p.
The eighth expansion for poncle’s hit survivaton, Legacy of the Bloodmoon takes players into the dark history of Clan Bloodmoon, where immortality, ambition and an alarming amount of violence are never too far away.
And yes, for less than a quid, there’s plenty here to sink your teeth into.

A Bloody New Chapter Begins
Legacy of the Bloodmoon follows Malice Bloodmoon as she digs into the history of her clan and searches for the truth behind the Order of the Red Moon.
At the heart of it all is the legend of Baal’Thasar, a saint who supposedly discovered a path to eternal life beneath a glowing red moon. He never returned from his pilgrimage, his order eventually fractured, and now a new group of followers are attempting to uncover what really happened.
As you may expect to hear, things are unlikely to go smoothly.
The expansion brings players to Red Moon Manor, the ancient stronghold said to hide the secret of immortality. It’s a very large new stage and home to plenty of the horrors you’d expect from a Vampire Survivors expansion.
New Characters, Weapons And Plenty Of Trouble
There are more than 10 new playable characters joining the roster, including Malice Bloodmoon, Calogero Bloodmoon, Ashtart, Sargon and Baal’Thasar himself.
Each brings another suitably cursed personality to the Vampire Survivors universe, with the expansion leaning heavily into themes of power, immortality and the terrible consequences of wanting both.
And of course, new characters need new ways to destroy thousands upon thousands of enemies.
Legacy of the Bloodmoon adds 16+ new weapons and evolutions, including the enemy-impaling Scarlet Needle, the devastating Incineration and the ominously named Blacken Firmament. Then there’s FireBall. Yes, really. And poncle is well aware that the name isn’t exactly breaking new creative ground.
The expansion also includes a new adventure and 11 new music tracks, rounding out what is a surprisingly substantial package for 89p.
Legacy Of The Moonspell Gets A Free Update Too
The Bloodmoon isn’t the only moon getting some attention.
Alongside the new DLC, Legacy of the Moonspell receives a free content update with new weapons, characters, a special evolution, a passive weapon and an additional music track.
That means existing Moonspell owners have another reason to jump back in, while the expansion itself has also received a permanent price drop. Given how much we enjoyed Legacy of the Moonspell, that’s not a bad excuse to revisit it.
Still Ridiculous Value
We gave the original Vampire Survivors a 5/5 review, calling it one of the finest indie games of its year and praising the way its simple hook refuses to let go.
We were similarly impressed by Legacy of the Moonspell, awarding that expansion 5/5 too, highlighting the sheer amount of fun it offered for such a tiny asking price.
So, with Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Bloodmoon costing just 89p while adding new characters, weapons, a large stage, music and another adventure, poncle appears to be sticking firmly to the same philosophy. We’ll find out again in review soon.

For 89p, it feels like the sort of DLC purchase where resisting is probably harder than surviving another run. Just don’t blame us when you pop in for one quick game and discover an entire evening has mysteriously vanished under the Bloodmoon.
