Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption to arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in Q1 2018

Best of 2025

If you’re visiting Gamescom this year, then you’ll be able to get hands-on with Dark Star Game Studios’ latest title, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption. But if you’re not, then the release date window and a trailer will have to suffice!

Coming from a team of veteran game creators, including a former Ubisoft art director, a Blizzard technical artist, and a Konami senior programmer, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption will arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come the first quarter of 2018.

It’ll tell the tale of Adam, a fallen soldier who is on a quest to save his soul – but in order to do so, he’ll need to come face to face with eight abhorrent bosses, the first seven of which will be based on one of the deadly sins. Before your fight, you’ll need to make a sacrifice in order to enter combat, choosing which stat you will level down. With each fight tougher than the last, forcing players to carefully choose their actions in battle, it won’t be an easy task. Thankfully you will be aided by a variety of unlockable weapons.

The action is framed by a desolate afterlife in which Adam seeks to restore his memories and atone for his sins. How he interacts with each boss will ultimately decide his fate in one of multiple endings.

“Sinner is not another game where the player grows stronger to fight the final boss on equal footing,” says Iain Garner, Director of Developer Relations at Another Indie. “Adam will struggle with his physical prowess as well as his internal need for atonement, and his ultimate test will be his most challenging.”

We will of course bring you more regarding Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption as and when details drop, but we urge you to keep an eye out for it at Gamescom. You’ll find it playable for the first time in hall 3, stand D-01B, booth 370, before then making its North American debut at PAX West in booth 7315.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
