Slime Jumper – jumping onto Xbox and PC

Slime Jumper, a minimalist precision platformer, has now bounced onto Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Play Anywhere.

Created and published by Harold Villacorte, Slime Jumper strips platforming right back to basics with one very straightforward concept – jumping is all you can do. That’s it.

No attacking. No complicated movement systems. No endless mechanics layered on top of one another. Just precise jumps, careful timing and the constant threat of failure waiting around every corner.

Precision Platforming With A Twist

The big gimmick in Slime Jumper is its Jump-Only control system. Rather than giving players a huge moveset to master, the game limits everything down to just two buttons. Which we guess is at least one more than we’ve been using in those One Button Games experiences…

The challenge instead comes from precision, timing and learning how to navigate obstacles using only carefully placed jumps. It’s the sort of setup that feels easy to understand within seconds, but probably far harder to truly master once the difficulty starts ramping up.

Small Game, Straightforward Idea

There isn’t a huge amount of extra fluff surrounding Slime Jumper – this is a fast, challenging platformer built around one core mechanic. No distractions, no complicated systems, just pure jump-focused gameplay with a cheerful little slime at the centre of it all.

And given how many modern games try to overload players with systems and mechanics, there’s something quite refreshing about that approach.

Slime Jumper is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Play Anywhere. Head to the Xbox Store and take in the download you need.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
