After a successful launch on mobile and PC at the back end of 2020, the stunningly vibrant Alba: A Wildlife Adventure takes stock on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, giving players the chance to explore a wonderful open-world, snapping away at the wildlife they uncover.
Created by ustwo games – they behind the stunning Monument Valley – with PID Games behind the publishing, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure sends you off to the island of Pinar del Mar, a Mediterranean inspired land which is home to more than five dozen animals. It’s here where you rock up in the shoes of Alba, a young girl who is spending some time with her grandparents, along with her best friend, Ines. With plans to just kick back for the summer, spending time exploring the lands, when Alba discovers that the locals have decided to build a hotel on the island’s best nature reserve, she attempts to put a stop to it.
Priced at £16.74 and available for both Xbox One and fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S – along with PlayStation and Switch consoles – Alba: A Wildlife Adventure follows this young activist as she goes about snapping the animals of the land, all in hope that she can get those behind the hotel to consider their actions.
A glorious artstyle is at the fore of how Alba plays out, with handcrafted visuals at every turn. With numerous animals to photo, people to chat to, places to uncover, lost pets to find and volunteers to inspire, what initially looks like one of those cheap and cheerful ‘done in an evening’ experiences certainly seems to have more up its sleeve.
How that all plays out is detailed fully in our full review of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure on Xbox, and this could well be one of those hidden Xbox gems. We urge you to give it a read, take it all in and then, should you be sold on the subject matter, head to your favoured digital store and pick up a download.
You’ll find the Xbox Store playing host to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S downloads, the PlayStation Store doing similar for PS4 and PS5 players, and the Nintendo eShop holding the key for those preferring Switch. Remember, you’ll also be able to play Alba through PC and mobile. What’s more, by grabbing a purchase of the game, you’ll be helping ustwo games and their partnership with Ecologi as one new tree will be planted for each copy of the game purchased.
Let us know how you find it once you’ve spent some time on Pinar del Mar.
Small actions can make a big difference. Join Alba, a young activist, as she sets out to save her beautiful island and its wildlife.
