Sniper Elite 4 has been with us little over a month now, but as with most games these days, the release is just the beginning. Many games are accompanied by various DLCs and updates that add various content drops to the existing experience and today is Sniper Elite 4’s turn.
And that is all thanks to the first chapter of the new story expansion Deathstorm, now available to download on Xbox One, PS4 and PC – something which will be available free to all Season Pass holders or as a separate purchase for those without.
Deathstorm Part 1: Inception (to give it its full name) is the opening chapter to a three-part campaign, playable from start to finish in both solo or co-op. The story of Deathstorm takes place after the events of the main game in the colder terrain of norther Italy, and a Nazi naval base that has been targeted in the recent bombing run.
With imposing scaffolding, a German destroyer and myriad Kriegsmarine soldiers to make his way through, Karl Fairburne is sent to finish off the job started by the bombing run. His primary mission however comes down to a much more daunting task, securing the critical, top secret and mysterious package codenamed Deathstorm from the Manhattan Project.
The new content doesn’t end there however. The Night Fighter Expansion Pack is the other arrival today and brings with it three new weapons, night-time camo rifle skins for eight of the games weapons and new male and female character skins.
Fans of the multiplayer modes meanwhile will have a new mode to look forward to as Elimination makes its way to the game and is available for free for all players. Elimination is a new two-team game mode for up to 12 players and is all about whittling the enemy team down. Players killed are forced to sit out on the sidelines in this game mode, although getting killed isn’t always the end of the match as those still alive on your team can bring you back with kills on the enemy team, meaning that even in desperate times of 1v6 you can still find a way back into the fight with enough skill and determination.
The final new addition to Sniper Elite 4 comes in the form of a new map known as Night Woods, and is the first of the new maps set to arrive for Sniper Elite 4 with all future maps and modes for the games multiplayer set to be free also.
So, that’s all there is from the first major content drop coming to Sniper Elite 4. Is this enough to tempt you back into the shoes of veteran sniper Karl Fairburne? Don’t forget to check out our review and then let us know your thoughts in the comments below or via our usual social channels.
