We’d always favour a delay over the release of something shoddy, but that doesn’t make it any easier to take and today, CI Games have announced a new release date for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3.
Now due for release on the 4th April 2017, Sniper: Ghost Warrior is in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The studio behind the awesome Lords of the Fallen and the rest of the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise have decided to delay the latest installment so more time can be spent on optimisation.
“We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans,” said Marek Tymiński, CEO of CI Games. “Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimising the game. This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise.”
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will tell the story of brotherhood, faith and betrayal in a land soaked in the blood of civil war. You will play the role of Jonathan North, an American Sniper who is dropped into northern Georgia, nearby Russian borders, with both an official mission, and a personal one – to find your brother.
There will be large open-world maps with dynamic weather and a day and night cycle that actually impacts play and decisions to explore, the chance to customise weapon equipment, accessories, vehicles and a drone, and utilise the three pillars of gameplay to your liking: Sniper, Ghost and Warrior.
As always, we’ll bring you any more news as and when we have it.
I don’t like it, but we have to accept the fact that CIG want’s to work on the game longer to give us completed and optimized game.
It’s a shame that the release was delayed. I was hoping to play this game in January 2017. A part of me is actually glad that they have made this decision. I’d rather wait for the game a bit longer but hopefully on the relase it will be polished – unlike many games these days
