A crossover of truly monumental proportions has just raced into Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, as the worlds of the Blue Blur and the blocky behemoth of Minecraft collide.

SEGA has released the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – Minecraft Pack, a brand-new downloadable content pack that brings some of gaming’s most recognisable faces to the starting grid.

Available right now on all platforms where Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds can be played, this new pack is a celebration of two iconic franchises, offering a wealth of new content for fans of both.

Race Through the Overworld in the Minecraft Pack

Priced at a modest £4.99, the Minecraft Pack is a substantial new addition, injecting a dose of blocky chaos into the fast-paced arcade racer.

Three new playable characters, straight from the world of Minecraft, are ready to join the roster:

  • Steve
  • Alex
  • The Creeper (just be careful with those overtakes!)

A New World to Conquer

The pack also includes a brand-new, multi-part race course, the Minecraft World track. Prepare to journey through the familiar grassy biomes of the Overworld, navigate the fiery hazards of the Nether, and even evade the mighty Ender Dragon as you battle for first place.

To complete the crossover experience, the pack is filled with authentic extras:

  • Minecart Vehicle: The iconic Minecart is now a fully playable vehicle.
  • Emotes & Sounds: The pack includes additional sounds and 6 new emotes for each new character.

A Remixed Soundtrack

And further to that, a host of new music, available via the in-game Jukebox, will accompany your blocky battles. This includes remixed tracks for the new course and the original Minecraft songs that inspired them:

  • Minecraft World: Intro (based on Comforting Memories)
  • Minecraft World: Overworld (based on Comforting Memories, Infinite Amethyst)
  • Minecraft World: Overworld: Final Lap (based on Relic)
  • Minecraft World: Nether (based on Pigstep)
  • Minecraft World: The End: Final Lap (based on Broken Heart of Ender)
  • Minecraft: Character Select (based on Comforting Memories)
  • Minecraft: Result (based on Relic)
  • Original Tracks: Comforting Memories, Infinite Amethyst, Pigstep, Relic, and Broken Heart of Ender.

Another Challenger on the Grid

This new Minecraft collaboration continues to build upon the already impressive roster and world-hopping antics of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In our glowing 4.5/5 review of the base game, we praised its ambition and quality, stating:

Despite a few minor setbacks, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is Sonic Team’s valiant effort to compete in the arcade racer market; when your game contains an abundance of characters, maps, game-modes and mechanics all of the same calibre, it can easily go toe-to-toe with even the Mario Karts of the genre.

The addition of a globally beloved franchise like Minecraft is a perfect example of how the “CrossWorlds” concept can continue to deliver exciting and unexpected new content, adding even more of that impressive calibre to the game.

It’s time to find out if a Creeper has what it takes to out-drift Shadow the Hedgehog, or if Steve can boost past Sonic on the final straight. The ultimate crossover is here, blending the lightning-fast action of Sonic with the boundless creativity of Minecraft. Find the action unfolding over on the usual digital stores, like that of the Xbox Store.

The starting flag has dropped.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
