Ready for a galactic take on the space-base management genre? Spacebase Startopia is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC – and today the full release date has been confirmed.

So, without beating around the galactic bush, Spacebase Startopia is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC on October 23rd 2020, and should you be looking for something to get your teeth into, this looks set to deliver.

Created by the team at Realmforge Studios with the publishing rights worked by Kalypso Media (they previously behind the likes of Tropico 6), Spacebase Startopia will whisk us off to space before blending together some good old city building and base-management with a flash of RTS skirmish action.

Breathing life back into a true classic, Realmforge Studios have attempted to strike a balance between nostalgia and innovation in its reimagining of the popular strategy game; a game that mostly revolves around a donut-shaped space station filled to the brim with a colorful cast of aliens managed by their tireless commander – YOU!

Yep, in Spacebase Startopia players will carve out their own little space in the universe, ready to become a galactic utopia. With three different game modes and a vast amount of management decisions to be made under the watchful eye of the VAL, the station’s sardonic AI, it promises to bring plenty of in-depth gameplay for both new and seasoned players alike. Just make sure you keep an eye on the invading Space Pirates, yeah?

Alongside the confirmation of this release date Spacebase Startopia is also being given the closed beta treatment, with a brand-new gameplay trailer thrown in for good measure.

Following on from an exclusive reveal earlier this week on Twitch, the Spacebase Startopia beta unlocks today for all pre-purchase customers on the Kalypso Store, along with a special pre-purchase discount. The game is available in two versions too, a Standard Edition consisting of the base game and beta access, and an Extended Edition which adds in-game items and a digital soundtrack into the mix for the true donut-shaped-space-station aficionado.

The beta including three tutorial maps, two single player missions and an early version of skirmish mode with randomized parameters, 15 rooms and three tech tree levels. And as you would expect, more content will be added as part of regular updates leading up to the launch of the full game.

Features include:

  • Singleplayer campaign with 10 fully voiced single player missions
  • Individually configurable sandbox mode
  • Competitive and a cooperative multiplayer for up to 4 players
  • Build 30+ rooms across three very different decks to offer everything that the visiting aliens could wish for
  • Manage a melting pot of different alien races, each with their own individual – and sometimes contradictory – needs and desires
  • Produce and trade resources to turn a profit, while running sabotage missions against your competitors

If you’re up for a trip to the stars and reckon you have what it takes to work your micro-management magic, then keep an eye out for Spacebase Startopia from October 23rd 2020. We’ll be sure to remind you when that day comes along.
