Spectrum delivers simple but addictive platforming to Xbox One

Sometimes all you want is to sit down with a simple game and work through it at your own pace. Spectrum will allow you to do just this, taking in minimalist and colourful 2D platforming where the end goal is, well, an end goal.

The dark world you find yourself in with Spectrum has been invaded by colour and light and your ball-shaped character must find a way back into the homely and comforting darkness. How? It’s a case of jumping, diving and manoeuvring around a variety of obstacles to reach the end of each uniquely shaped level.

In order to succeed with the fewest deaths in Spectrum you will have to have your reactions down to a T, adapting to the ever-changing levels and quickly changing direction when new obstacles are thrown your way. Hit the barriers of each level too many times and you will explode into a mess of blackness – something you really do not want.

Due to the simplicity of Spectrum you won’t be surprised to hear that it has had massive acclaim on mobile devices, but today it is making the substantial leap to Xbox One for the price of ÂŁ9.59 – although if you hurry, it’s discounted to ÂŁ7.67 until tomorrow. You can also pick up the game on mobile and PC if you wish.

Will you be giving it a shot? Let us know on the usual social channels and be sure to keep an eye out for our review!

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
