Ambidextra – mashing up your Xbox mind

Prepare for a platforming challenge that will test your coordination like never before in Ambidextro.

Ambidextro is a unique title described as “a multi-player game for a single player,” and it is available right now, on Xbox Series X|S.

Developed by Majorariatto and published by Mameshiba Games, this quirky game tasks you with controlling two characters simultaneously using just one controller.

Expected to launch at a budget-friendly price, Ambidextro presents a novel premise wrapped in a retro dark-fantasy aesthetic. A wicked witch has kidnapped both the prince and the princess!

As the royal wizard, you’ve been literally severed in half, allowing you to attempt rescuing both royals at the same time. The only problem? You need to master controlling both halves of your body independently.

Two Hands, Two Halves, One Goal

Ambidextro unfolds across a series of quick, single-screen platforming levels. Using your controller, likely assigning one analog stick to each half of the wizard, you must navigate hazards and obstacles simultaneously. The goal in each of the 100 levels is to make your two halves meet before the time runs out.

What starts simple will undoubtedly become fiendishly challenging. You’ll need to split your focus, master independent movement for each hand, and overcome level designs that look increasingly impossible for just one brain to manage.

Retro Vibes from Mameshiba & Majorariatto

The challenge is presented with a distinct retro dark-fantasy atmosphere, complete with a dungeon synth soundtrack to set the mood.

Publisher Mameshiba Games has recently brought other unique indie experiences to Xbox, such as the utterly nuts KinnikuNeko: SUPER MUSCLE CAT.

Ambidextro continues their trend of offering interesting concepts from independent developers like Majorariatto.

Key Features

  • Unique Dual Control: Control two characters simultaneously, one with each hand/stick.
  • “Multiplayer for Single Player”: A true test of coordination and focus.
  • 100 Challenging Levels: Master single-screen platforming puzzles.
  • Time-Based Objective: Reunite your two halves before time expires.
  • Retro Dark-Fantasy Style: Pixelated visuals meet a dungeon synth soundtrack.

Can You Master Ambidexterity

Ambidextro offers a genuinely unique and potentially brain-bending platforming challenge. If you’re looking for something different that will test your skills in a novel way, keep an eye out for its launch on the Xbox Store. it costs £6.69.

Get ready to split your focus and conquer those levels! Stay tuned for our full review.
