Star Citizen 4.4 Vanduul-Tech Smugglers Guide

Best of 2025

The Star Citizen 4.4 brings along a brand new faction to work for and a brand new one to work against, and of course, there is the official arrival of the Vanduul-Tech in the verse. This mission begins where the Onyx facilities left off. Although you don’t need to have completed that quest to unlock this mission, you will have to grind up to the first rank with Intersect Defense Solutions.

Intersect is the UEE Naval Subcontractor hunting down the source of Vanduul-Tech and bodies smuggled into Stanton, but they also have next-level merc work available. Don’t have the necessary ship and gears for the mission, just buy them after collecting enough Star Citizen aUEC.

Once you reach the rank of a Junior Contractor, you will have the Vanduul-Tech Smugglers mission in your investigation tab.

Overview of the Mission

The UEE Naval Contractor Intersec Defense Solutions is looking for the source of Vanduul-Tech & Bodies provided to Dr. Logan Jorrit, continuing the thread of Stanton’s Onyx Facility Investigation. The Vanduul mission required going into the QV Station, which is under siege from the Vanduul. Players will have to go through 7 parts to complete the full mission, and these quests or parts have been listed below as follows:

First Arrival: Defend the Polaris

When you head towards the station after accepting the mission, you will find 4 Vanduul fighters that you need to deal with before landing. These enemies are mostly basic, but their ridiculously annoying amounts of teleportation can bother even the good fighters.

The fight involves a mix of scythe, blade, glaive, and Stinger, and the toughness of the fight mostly depends on the ship you are using. It is recommended to use stations & asteroids for cover as they can be quite useful in such fights.

Once the four ships have been destroyed, you can either land in the medium hangar or enter via he pad that is located in line with the main-station trunk, just across Polaris.

Entering the Station: Lift the Lockdown

After you have entered the station, you will need to head to the Maintenance Room. To make it to the maintenance room, you will have to go upstairs to the left, and then across the boards and behind the sign, and then, after mantling over the railing, you will find the Maintenance Room. The way there feels like a Ghost Arena, but less dirty.

The only enemies you need to worry about are the ones stationed outside the Maintenance Room. Once you have gotten inside, there will be a few more enemies, but after you are done dealing with them, find the Lever and reset it to the down position. It is to be noted that if you enter the Central Atrium, it will automatically trigger an ambush.

Finding Data Packets: Decrypting the Data

After resetting the lever, you will have to clear the security room, and once you are done, you will have to look for the Data Packets. What you need to do is Head to the security office to deal with the ambush leader and interact with the leader’s body to download the encrypted data. After looting the decryption key from the body, you will simply have to interact with the terminal and insert the key when asked.

All remaining keys, along with the data, will have to be brought back to this terminal. This means fighting with the lieutenants holding these keys, and these 5 leaders are located in the Security, Cargo Deck A, Cargo Deck B, Polaris, and the last one in the Auxiliary Station.

Clearing Cargo Deck: Facing Cargo Deck Lieutenants

This is where it gets a little easier. Both Cargo Deck A & Cargo Deck B have freight elevators that link to your hangar. In this place, lieutenants will spawn along with other minor enemies. The room will also have mounted NPC Turrets at its back, so keep an eye out for them.

After finishing them off, you will have to retrieve the data, and as soon as you do, another ambush will spawn, triggered from the entrance. Well, good luck clearing all of that, buddy. Now a lot of players have trouble facing such ambushes while outside the station as well. You know what helps really well? A decent ship. So just buy Star Citizen Ships in the game, not just cheap but actually decent ones.

Nearing the Climax: Boarding the Polaris

To board the Polaris, players can either make their way to the hangar and then to the pad, or they can just EVA over through the Landing Pad. It is to be noted that when you leave the station, another wave of Vanduul will spawn. You can take entry through the Port Side Docking, but there is another forced route through the tight CQB to the left. On Bridge.

While moving on the bridge, you will also find 6 testudo lootboxes (two of them will be on the lower deck).

Auxiliary Stations: Searching the Derelicts

Now you will need to make your way to the auxiliary stations, where you will have to search for the three derelicts. There are generic loot boxes scattered all over the area, but players also need to look out for the fighter Vanduul wave, which is triggered after the player enters each wreck. So at all three wrecks, you will be encountering another wave of 4 Vanduul fighters.

You will have to search for a Lieutenant’s body with the access card. To aid you in finding this access card, a marker will update when you are close enough to the correct body, but for this marker to appear, you will need to be within 10 metres of the corpse.

The final part: Entering the Aux Station

After finding the access card, you can make your way back to the Aux station and unlock the door. There will be 8 lootable Vanduul corpses with new trade items. The security booth can be accessed by fusing into the locker room with Cambio.

Laptops with door codes can spawn in random locations, so look out for them. Pipes will also need to be repaired to pass; otherwise, they can become pipes of certain death. After collecting the testudo boxes in the area, you can return to the station to complete the contract.

Conclusion

Overall, this mission involves going through a shit ton of fights, but there’s lots of loot, so it’s all worth it. While going back, be on alert as enemies might have respawned, although that depends on how much time it has taken for you to get to the completion point and the ambush doors… Might trigger again. To complete the contract, you will need to head back to the security room and insert the decryption key when prompted. Luckily enough, there will be no enemies in the warehouse on your way back, so you can poke around as you like.
