away the survival series is finally on Xbox

AWAY: The Survival Series on Xbox is a 3rd-person adventure game where you play as a young sugar glider on a journey to save his family.

Explore a mysterious Earth

Set on an Earth that has been affected by catastrophic seismic events, the only inhabitants are animals. You’ll have to run, jump, climb and glide your way through stunningly reproduced environments and discover a vibrant world brimming with unique species of plants, insects, and animals.

Make your own nature documentary

As you play, your every move is narrated by a gravelly voice in the vein of the maestro of nature documentaries, David Attenborough. The atmospheric orchestral soundtrack was written by award-winning composer Mike Raznick, who also worked on BBC’s Life and Planet Earth II. Combining these two features makes you feel like you are starring in your very own nature documentary as revealed in the video trailer for the game.

As with all the best nature documentaries, adrenaline-pumping dangers are always lurking just around the corner, and AWAY: The Survival Series is no exception. Every step of your story will take you deeper into the wild, where you will face new environments, new enemies, and new challenges. You’ll have to fight predators, or use your stealth and agility to sneak past them. When it’s your turn to be top of the food chain, you’ll get to hunt your prey.

There is the option to follow the main story, or explore off the beaten path and embark on various side-quests. Other rare, playable animals are found hidden throughout the environments, which give you the chance to play as a beetle, crab and lizard, amongst others, and see the world from a whole new perspective

From the Breaking Walls team who have previously worked on Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia, and Far Cry, AWAY: The Survival Series is the studio’s debut title. Released onto PlayStation 4 and 5 back in 2021, it’s been a long wait for it to finally come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s available from the Xbox Store today for £14.99.
