Star Trek Online goes Unleashed with Season 34

The call has been answered, and a new front in the Borg Multiversal War has opened for console captains.

Arc Games have launched Star Trek Online: Unleashed, the 34th season of the long-running, free-to-play Star Trek MMORPG. This massive new update is available right now for all players on Xbox and PlayStation, bringing a new episode, a new Task Force Operation, and a host of returning fan-favourite franchise stars.

This latest chapter serves as a critical turning point in the escalating conflict with the Aetherians, and it will require the expertise of even the most seasoned captains to dismantle the new threat.

A Journey That Continues to Engage

It’s been a long and incredible journey for Star Trek Online, a game that continues to thrive on the sheer passion of its community and its developers. When we last revisited the game for its Xbox Series X|S review, we gave it a solid 4/5, calling it an “all round fun experience.” We noted that while the “2007 graphical style” was showing its age, the lack of a major visual boost “does not detract from the fun available.

Star Trek Online: Unleashed is a powerful testament to that very point. This is a game that thrives on its deep narrative, its commitment to the Star Trek canon, and its constant stream of high-quality, story-driven content.

To Boldly Go Where We’ve Gone Before

The Star Trek Online team has been on an incredible journey, and we recently had the pleasure of sitting down with them for an exclusive deep-dive interview about this very update.

The passion the team has for the Star Trek universe and its ever-expanding story was clear, and Unleashed is the direct result of that passion, bringing together iconic characters for a high-stakes new adventure.

A High-Stakes Extraction Mission

The new season’s story, Best Laid Plans, calls captains to Deep Space 9 for an urgent and perilous mission. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the Star Trek Online team for an exclusive deep-dive interview about this very update, and the team’s passion for this new chapter was infectious.

New Episode – Best Laid Plans

Director Hugh, the acclaimed leader of the Borg Cooperative (voiced by Jonathan Del Arco), has confirmed the location of the key Aetherian leader, Thaseen-Fei. He is calling on you to assist in a daring extraction operation.

You will team up with the Borg expert Seven of Nine (voiced by the returning Jeri Ryan) and other allies, including Chancellor L’Rell (Mary Chieffo), to dismantle the Aetherian threat and uncover the secrets behind their subterfuge.

New Task Force Operation – Shattered Peace

For those looking for a new group challenge, a brand-new five-player Task Force Operation, “Shattered Peace,” is also available. Alliance Headquarters at Khitomer is under siege, and you must respond to a distress call from Seven of Nine to take on multiple enemy incursions in orbit. You’ll face a series of orbital challenges, including rifts, waves of enemies, and even allies who have been turned hostile.

A Celebration of Star Trek

This update is a true celebration of the Star Trek universe, bringing together a huge cast of beloved characters to tell a new and exciting story.

Players will once again hear the familiar voices of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Jonathan Del Arco as Director Hugh, and Mary Chieffo as Chancellor L’Rell, alongside a host of other returning voice actors.

The next great conflict in the Delta Quadrant has begun. With iconic heroes returning to the fold and a critical new mission to undertake, Star Trek Online: Unleashed is another unmissable chapter for fans of the legendary sci-fi universe. The update is free to play and available to download right now (from the likes of the Xbox Store).

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
