Hot Rod Mayhem – now on PC and console

Get ready for some rip-roaring, item-flinging, high-speed action as Hot Rod Mayhem bursts onto PC and console.

Hot Rod Mayhem, a brand new arcade racer from developer and publisher Casual Brothers, has screeched onto the scene today.

Available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch, this game promises chaotic races, outrageous customisation, and plenty of mayhem.

Forget realistic simulation; Hot Rod Mayhem is all about fast, furious fun. Jump into the driver’s seat of unique hot rods, customise your wacky racer, and battle for supremacy across wild and unpredictable tracks using an arsenal of devious items.

Think Beach Buggy Racing 2, and you probably won’t be far wrong.

Customise, Choose, and Conquer!

Before hitting the track, you get to create your own memorable racer. Pick from a selection of outrageous helmets, faces, outfits, and colors to build a character your rivals won’t soon forget.

Then, choose your ride! With 15 unique hot rods available, from the “Blazing Bullet” to the “Crimson Cruiser,” each boasts distinct stats catering to different driving styles. Whether you prefer speed, handling, or something else entirely, there’s a flashy hot rod waiting for you.

Unleash Chaos with Devastating Items

What’s an arcade racer without items? Hot Rod Mayhem lets you gain the edge with strategic pick-ups:

  • Homing Dart: Target the leader and ruin their day.
  • Marble: Hit the car directly ahead.
  • Disc: Leave a sneaky trap to slow down followers.
  • Shield: Defend against incoming attacks.
  • Turbo Boost: Blast past the competition.
  • Mastering these items is key to climbing the podium.

Trials, Tracks, and Championships

Beyond standard races, Hot Rod Mayhem features unique Trials designed to test your skills and creativity. Jump through hoops, dodge electricity orbs, hit insane speeds on booster pads, and complete other daring feats.

The action takes place across epic tracks like the frosty Snow Summit, the futuristic Cyber City, and the festive Mariachi Mile. Each track ramps up the chaos further with forward, mirrored, reversed, and twisted variations.

Put it all together in the Campaign mode, featuring 10 unique championships unlocked by completing challenging trials, all culminating in the battle for the World Champion title.

Key Features

  • Wacky Arcade Racing: Fast-paced action with unique hot rods.
  • Deep Customisation: Personalise your racer and choose from 15 cars with unique stats.
  • Item-Based Mayhem: Use Homing Darts, Marbles, Turbos, and more.
  • Unique Trials: Special challenges testing skill and creativity.
  • Diverse Tracks: Race through varied environments with multiple layout variations.
  • Campaign Mode: Compete in 10 championships unlocked via trials.

Ready for Some Hot Rod Havoc?

Hot Rod Mayhem promises a fun, accessible, and chaotic arcade racing experience packed with personality. In fact, there could well be enough about this one to mean we need to rewrite our Best Kart Racers article.

It’s available right now on the Xbox Store (ÂŁ19.99) for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You’ll find it on other digital storefronts for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. If you’re playing on PC, hit up Steam.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
