Remember how SteelSeries changed up the brilliant Arctis 1 Wireless to work with Xbox, all via the help of a rather innovative USB-C wireless dongle? Well, they are planning to do the same again – just this time with this Arctis 7 to ensure that it delivers the best next-gen audio experience for Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

First used in the Arctis 1 Wireless – a headset that we absolutely adore – SteelSeries have today confirmed use of their innovative wireless 2.4GHz USB-C dongle with the new Arctis 7X and Arctis 7P; headsets that will be perfect for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 respectively.

These headsets take the best components of the original Arctis 7, whilst adding in the dongle to ensure that it is compatible with not just the next generation of console, but also with our beloved Xbox One.

“The start of a new console generation is one of the most anticipated events for gamers everywhere,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, SteelSeries CEO. “While this new generation of consoles will continue to push the boundaries of resolution, visual fidelity and console frame rates, we are committed to bringing a new audio experience to gamers, worthy of a new generation. We believe that the new Arctis 7X and Arctis 7P will be, hands down, the favorite wireless gaming headsets among console gamers for this new generation of consoles.”

Having won more awards than any other gaming headset, SteelSeries’ Arctis 7, when combined with the USB-C dongle, will ensure that gamers can easily swap between gaming on Xbox, PlayStation consoles, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile. This ultra-low latency 2.4GHz lossless wireless technology allows gamers to get a full, high fidelity audio, lag-free gaming experience on Xbox Series X|S.

Arctis7X

If you’ve never had the pleasure of using the Arctis 7 and wish to know more about the 7X, then just like the rest of the Arctis line, it uses the same high-quality speaker drivers as the Arctis 7 – which in itself features the award-winning Arctis soundscape, emphasizing subtle, yet critical sounds to give gamers an audio advantage in their favorite next-gen games.

To complement all that, the Arctis 7X features industry-leading battery life, with no less than 24 hours of non-stop wireless usage in place. This will mean that no matter how hardcore you are, you should be able to play for days without needing to worry about whether or not your headset will need to be recharged. Throw in the likes of the iconic ski goggle headband design, Discord-certified ClearCast noise-cancelling microphone, and on-headset controls that allow gamers to easily adjust their volume, ChatMix balance and microphone mute directly on the headset, and you’ve got pretty much everything you could ever wish for.

Should you wish to grab the SteelSeries Arctis 7X then you’ll find it at SteelSeries direct, costing in the region of $149.99. You’ll find the 7P over there too – that comes in either a glorious blue/white design to match the PS5, or a tasty looking black version.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. This is so stupid. Update the old Steel Series 7 to work with xbox instead! I refuse ever buying a new one as long as the old one works just fine – even if I have to stop communicating all together. This just makes me not use the Xbox series x anymore.

A year later and no update for legacy hardware compatibility for the Xbox X. PS5 apparently works with most old hardware. the Xbox doesn’t even have a dongle for ADC/DAC over USB for audio, since they removed the optical SP/DIF. I expected money-grubbery, but this is just incompetence.
