The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild have had a cracking 2020, having seen huge success with the likes of Roundguard and #Funtime in console markets. Now though it’s time for them to help us gamers stop time, pushing out the twin-stick fantasy shooter The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Available to purchase and download on Xbox One (£12.49), Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines has been created by the team at tinyDino Games, pushed out to console thanks to the might of The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild. It is a twin-stick shooter that deals with the fantasy world, with a main gameplay mechanic that is centred around the ability to stop time.

In The Ambassador you’ll find yourself playing through things as Gregor, a newly recruited member of the Eternal Fellowship. It is he who is an Ambassador of Time. The issue is, just as you are learning to use your newfound powers, the Fellowship’s capital city is mysteriously destroyed as as one of the only remaining fellows, it is up to you to find those responsible. Returning the world of Tamaris to its former glory is your sole goal.

As tinyDino Games describes it: “We like to think of it as a mashup of all the indie games we enjoyed while learning how to make games ourselves. Because of this, you will notice elements of Braid, Crawl, The Binding of Isaac, and Nuclear Throne all tossed together into a new and shiny twin-stick shooter.”

Delivered via a rather rustic pixel art style, and coming complete with a host of unique settings, The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines promises to be the nostalgic non-linear romp through multiple dimensions that you never thought you needed in your life. But only by making the most of every weapon available – amending your loadout and assembling your arsenal for the hordes of challenges you’ll face – will you ever be able to solve the mystery of what happened to the Eternal Fellowship.

Features of The Ambassador: Factured Timelines on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC include:

  • Fast paced, strategic combat designed to stretch your time-stopping abilities.
  • A vast world composed of fortresses, tall mountains, dense forests, and the smoldering remains of Tamaris.
  • An action-packed campaign spanning five unique environments, two timelines, and 55 levels.
  • An armory of weapons, magic trinkets, and armor, all more unique than the last.
  • 20 hidden journals containing the history of the realm.
  • Tough as nails Horde Mode after completion of the campaign.
  • Multiple difficulty settings ranging from easy and accessible to head-smashing-into-desk mode!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
