The Story Goes On finds a release date and exclusive Xbox One co-op mode

-

Early Access is all well and good, but what we really want to see are full release dates and exclusive modes. Strangely, that’s exactly what we’re getting today as news surrounding The Story Goes On brings us that all-important launch day, plus an exclusive Xbox One game mode!

The Story Goes On from KISS Publishing and Scarecrow Arts is a novel adventure that brings fast paced action, plenty of adventure and an innovative new take on the hack ‘n’ slash genre, combining elements of permadeath, random world generation, puzzles and a rich overarching story. It’s currently in Steam Early Access but will be arriving on Xbox One and PC as a full release come Feb 14th 2018.

Come that date you’ll get to discover what it means to really become a hero worth writing about, as you are placed in the unfinished storybook of a crazed author, on the brink of being discarded forever. The Story Goes On promises to be a beautifully designed tale set in an endless maze known as ‘The Odyssey’ where each player can experience their own unique journey. Progression at your own pace is par for the course and almost every event, puzzle and fight can be completed in either a frenzied whirlwind or a methodical trial, depending on your own personal playstyle.

You will also get to experience a stunning adaptive soundtrack that reacts in real-time to the environment to bring you a truly personal playthrough, with every item designed to add to your experience and shift the way you play. Expect epic combat enhancements and new ways of traversing puzzles, as the items in The Story Goes On are laid out to work with each other and grant the epic combinations every time you play.

And whilst that all sounds great and we can’t wait for the release to arrive, the big news as Xbox One gamers is that The Story Goes On comes to Xbox with an exclusive local co-op mode.

You will be able to traverse the The Odyssey with an equally powerful partner in a truly high-stakes adventure, with both beginning with a standard health pool with three hearts, which, when depleted, sees them die. The living player can then split his health in half and share it with his previously dead partner. Is one healthy player more likely to finish the run, or are two almost dead players your best shot? Reviving in The Story Goes On co-op mode is a bit of a gamble.

“The Story Goes On has always been a hugely ambitious project, and the Early Access community have been incredibly helpful in refining our vision. What makes this game so special is the ability for each player to experience something truly unique, from the soundtrack, to the environments to the combat and puzzles, everyone’s story will be theirs alone.” Said Malcolm Smith, CEO at Scarecrows Arts.

“We’re so thrilled with the evolution of the Story Goes On. It’s unlike anything we’ve published before and is our first title to come to console,” said Darryl Still, Co-Founder and CEO of KISS Publishing Ltd. “We know Xbox and PC players are going to love their individual adventure.”

Make sure you check out the trailer for The Story Goes On below and we’ll be sure to remind you when that 14th Feb release date arrives. The $7.99 price tag makes things even more intriguing.
