Best of 2025

Unless you are based in the East, chances are you wouldn’t have had the opportunity to continue the Valkyria Chronicles saga. But every now and then, dreams really do come true. Free DLC is available with it too!

Available from today on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC, Valkyria Chronicles 4 breaks out of the Japanese market to allow a bit of love from the entire world. A game that continues on from previous Valkyria Chronicles tales, this one centres the action around Squad E of the Federation, taking you into a desperate fight in which the powers of the Valkyria stand tall.

This will all play out via the BLiTZ Battle System, as turn based strategy, RPG elements and a bit of 3rd person shooting action all combine to create one battlefield ruining system. With the series’ hand drawn visual style holding everything together, expect to find reality and imagination merging together to ensure that fans of Valkyria Chronicles are at one with the latest iteration.

All of this is priced up at ÂŁ49.99 with the Xbox Store providing access to Xbox One gamers. Those on PS4, Switch and PC should head to their own digital stores in order to nab themselves a copy.

Further to that, make sure you download the free Tank Decals too. There are multiple ones available for Cygnus, Royal Flush, Gallian Crest, Cherub and Bakery.

Game Description:

A Continent Engulfed in the Bitter Flames of War! Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes place in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, but focuses on Squad E of the Federation. Commander Claude Wallace and his childhood friends set out to fight for freedom in this desperate war, but bone-chilling blizzards, waves of imperial soldiers, and the godlike powers of the Valkyria stand between them and victory. The return of the BLiTZ Battle System and the CANVAS Graphic Engine! The Next Generation of the BLiTZ Battle System – The part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter the “BLiTZ” battle system storms onto the battlefield. Fight the imperial threat with more units on bigger maps than ever before. An explosive new unit called the Grenadier and numerous options for both offensive and defensive battle support make their debut in Valkyria Chronicles 4. A Lush Watercolor World – The series’ signature hand-drawn visual style is back! Inspired by watercolor compositions, the CANVAS Graphics Engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world filled with colorful emotions. Watch the journey of Squad E unfold like an interactive painting.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
