2023 hasn’t even reached its mid-way point yet, and it’s already been a cracking year for gamers. There’s been something for everyone: RPG fans have enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy; those looking for action can check out Hi-Fi Rush; horror aficionados were treated to the Dead Space remake. And now, fighting fans have their fix – Street Fighter 6 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC is here!
The Driving Factor:
As is the case with every release in the Street Fighter franchise, the battling on offer in Street Fighter 6 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC has a brand-new mechanic to get to grips with. In fact, the Drive Gauge system is perhaps the most exciting part of this release.
In a nutshell, this new approach to fights introduces a Drive Gauge bar which steadily re-fills over a round. Many of your special moves will burn down this bar, therefore carefully conserving it, and using it when you see a time to strike, is integral. The most powerful moves in SF6 can only be deployed when your Drive Gauge is full, so it may be beneficial to sit back, soak up damage, and pull off a devastating counter.
Street Fighter 6 on Xbox Core Modes:
- Arcade Mode is a single-player mode where you’ll face off against the computer and learn more about each fighter’s story. Complete Arcade Mode with each character to unlock and view beautiful illustrations in the Gallery. Your scores can also be uploaded to online leaderboards!
- Play against other players or the computer by creating a team of up to 5 characters and customize the Match Format to your liking such as Single Elimination, Doubles, and Teams.
- Extreme Battle introduces rulesets you’ll need to follow, along with fun features like Running Bulls or our own special version of hot potato. Play in Extreme Battle to learn more about the basics of the game or to unleash pure havoc at a party.
- Play online against other players by creating a Custom Room. The four virtual cabinets in the room can be set to One on One, Extreme Battle, or Training. Custom Rooms can now include up to 16 players at a time and makes Online Training and Match Spectating easier than ever before!
- Ranked Matches return and we’ve taken steps to reduce the pressure of losing a match in certain Ranks. First, we’ve added a one-time Rank-down protection feature for those in Diamond rank and below. Next, Rookies will no longer lose League Points upon defeat to encourage online play. Finally, Iron-Gold and Master rank players will not incur League demotions. Each character also has their own individual Rank, so trying new characters in Ranked Matches is more approachable than ever.
Returners and Newbies Fill the Roster:
At launch, Street Fighter 6 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC proudly boasts 18 playable fighters, each of course with a unique skillset that must be mastered – we are sure that metas will evolve in due course.
As well as your standard Ryu and Ken offerings, SF6 introduces some new characters into the mix, such as teleporting ninja Kimberly. As always, there is somebody for all types of players, with further characters coming in DLC releases later down the line. Why else would we be buying the Year 1 Ultimate Pass?
It’s you vs. the world in Street Fighter 6 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC:
One of SF6’s most ambitious modes is undoubtedly World Tour – a fully fleshed RPG, complete with brash story, and opportunity to learn as apprentices of Street Fighter masters.
Not only will World Tour offer an opportunity for players to learn the move-sets of each fighter, but also provides a complex RPG to enjoy, with a skill tree to upgrade your very own custom fighter.
World Tour Key Features:
- We showed off an all-new location in World Tour called Nayshall, a developing nation tucked away in a remote corner of Asia. You’ll meet iconic Masters and experience the world of Street Fighter™ with your own custom avatar as you hit the streets of Metro City, Nayshall, and other locations around the world in this new single-player story mode.
- We introduced a number of RPG elements as well. You can consume items and food during battle or at eateries to recover Vitality, acquire buffs, or inflict debuffs. As you level up your avatar, you’ll earn Skill Points to spend on a Skill Tree to further customize your tailor-made move set.
- Become a student of your favorite Masters – including all 18 launch characters – by Enrolling in their style and learning their Special Moves! Increase your bonds with Masters by giving them presents and completing Missions. Combine all of this to unlock new cutscenes as you form personal connections with these legendary fighters.

Street Fighter 6 is massive – but what did you really expect?
You can now pick up a copy of the game on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4 and PC – sorry Xbox One owners, but you will have to miss out on this one. Via the Xbox Store, the Standard Edition of the game will cost you £54.98, whilst the Deluxe Edition sets you back £79.99 (bringing with it the Year 1 Character Pass and four additional characters).
From there, the £99.98 Ultimate Edition provides even more additions, such as the Year 1 Ultimate Pass – all details are on the respective Xbox Store pages.
