Esophaguys – out now on Xbox

Every now and then, a game comes along that is so wonderfully, unapologetically weird that you can’t help but be intrigued. Today is one of those days as we welcome the launch of Esophaguys, a new physics-based party game about old folks with elongating necks.

Available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, this slice of guttural mayhem from the Esophaguys Team is available right now for ÂŁ12.49.

A Mythical Journey of Lost Kin

Prepare to stretch, bite, and swing your way through a variety of co-op and competitive modes in Esophaguys, a game that proudly features the twanging tones of the jew’s-harp and over 4000 mouth-originated sound effects.

In Esophaguys, you are part of a diasporic people of old folks with the incredible ability to elongate your necks. Your journey will take you across a variety of modes as you search to reactivate the forgotten monuments of your people.

As you progress, you’ll reconstruct an ancient monument in the Hub World, reuniting and unlocking the traditional garb of your lost, lengthy kin.

Guttural Mayhem Across Four Modes

Esophaguys offers a variety of ways to experience its unique neck-based physics, for up to four players.

  • Co-op Mode (2-4 players): Work together with friends to stretch, bite, and swing your way through the world, traversing and solving puzzles as a team.
  • Minigame Mode (2-4 players): Go neck-to-neck in team-based sports, chaotic free-for-all arenas, and traversal trials to determine who has the greatest gullet.
  • Story Mode (1-4 players): Embark on a mythical journey, accompanied by poignant narration, to understand the past, shape the future, and uncover the true nature of the neck.

For the Truly Demented: Masochist Mode

For players who crave a pure, unfiltered challenge, there’s Masochist Mode. This mode features no land and no checkpoints… nothing but neck.

You’ll subject yourself to grueling, hellish challenges that are ripe for the speedrunning community.

Twanging Tones and Elderly Grunts

This isn’t just a quirky game; it’s a unique auditory experience. Esophaguys is the first video game dedicated to one of mankind’s oldest instruments, the jews-harp. The soundscape features classic twangs from a variety of world traditions, combined with bold experimentations. This is accompanied by over 4000+ personally-recorded, mouth-originated SFX that promise to “tickle your cochleas to the extreme.”

Key Features

  • Unique Physics-Based Gameplay: Play as the Esophaguys, old folks who can stretch, bite, and swing with their elongating necks.
