Strong stomachs required in Oxide Room 104

Oxide Room 104 Xbox

The horror genre is perhaps the most diverse genre of videogames out there. Some people can’t get enough of survival horror like the Resident Evil series, whilst others may prefer horror much more in your face like Death Park or Five Nights at Freddy’s. Me? Give me an abandoned spaceship and aliens and I will lap it up. But when a game arrives describing itself as a body-horror game, it’s a huge ‘nope’ from me. Find out if your stomach can handle Oxide Room 104, out today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

After regaining consciousness in a bathtub in a motel room, your first thought is to escape. But with no clothes, wounds aplenty and no memory of how you got there, it isn’t going to be as easy as that. And that goes without mentioning the horrible creature that stalks you, and the unnerving scientist also keen on keeping you there.

You must escape this motel and end this nightmare. However, each time you die in Oxide Room 104, you will return to this bathtub armed only with knowledge to not try that again. Oxide Room 104 features a variety of different endings, but only one of them is considered a good ending.

Definitely deserving of its PEGI 18 rating, Oxide Room 104 features copious amounts of blood and gore, more than a handful of jumpscares and some truly grotesque creatures. You have been warned.

If that sounds like your idea of fun, Oxide Room 104 is available to download now from the Xbox Store priced at £20.99. Our review will be coming soon, but I certainly won’t be the one reviewing it. Good luck to whoever that ends up being.

Game description

Combining escape room gameplay and action, Oxide Room 104 is a bone-chilling single-player body-horror game set inside an old motel. Abducted, at the mercy of a ruthless scientist, and stalked by a horrible creature, you must try to escape using common sense, just as you would in real life. Can you get out of Oxide? It all starts when you wake up in the bathtub of a motel room, naked, wounded, and unsure what has happened. You remember that the deal had gone wrong, but now the only thing that matters is trying to escape from that horrifying place no matter what. From this moment on, everything you do will lead you to one of the endings. And we warn you that, out of all the ways it could end, there’s only one good way out… There are many options and ways to solve situations, as well as different paths. Some actions will lead you to states that will alter your perception of the environment and even to an abrupt outcome. Remember that a bad decision can be the difference between life and death.
