Ratalaika Games have teamed up once more with ebi-hime, whose other works include Strawberry Vinegar and A Winter’s Daydream, to bring another visual novel to consoles. This time, it’s The Language of Love and the romantic story it tells is available right now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The Language of Love follows 23 year old Tanimura Mitsuki, who’s finally leaving the family home, trading in a humble country life for a better education in Tokyo. This move comes after putting everything on hold for five years because of an accident involving his mother. As someone that has struggled in his studies during this time, he’ll need to cram hard in order to be accepted into university. What’s even tougher is trying to fit in when he’s much older than his classmates, effectively making him an outcast.

Fortunately, Mitsuki shares an apartment complex with a single mother, Himoro Kyouko, looking for a babysitter. You see, in return for his services in regards to taking care of her daughter, Kyouko will tutor him to diligently prepare for upcoming exams. Little did they know, this arrangement would evolve into something more…

It’s the classic unlikely romance between two characters that’s told through a linear narrative featuring roughly 80,000 words. If you wish to delve into The Language of Love and spend five to six hours reading this endearing tale, simply venture over to the Xbox Store to pay the required fee of £9.99 – currently discounted to £7.99 for two weeks. You’ll also find it on the PS Store and, on 30th October, the Nintendo eShop.
