The goblin thief is back. Styx: Blades of Greed launches today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, bringing stealth fans another chance to sneak, sabotage, and scheme their way through a dangerous fantasy world.
This time, Styx isn’t working for anyone else. He’s chasing his own ambitions, and his own fortune. With war brewing between elves, humans, and orcs, and a mysterious resource known as Quartz threatening to reshape the world, the stage is set for the goblin assassin’s most ambitious adventure yet.
A Goblin With Bigger Plans
In Styx: Blades of Greed, the sharp-tongued goblin infiltrator moves from pawn to leader, commanding his own crew aboard a zeppelin while pursuing Quartz; a powerful and dangerous resource capable of changing the balance of power.
The story acts as a key moment in the wider universe, exploring events tied to the origins of the Black Hand mercenaries and the world of Of Orcs and Men. Along the way, Styx will encounter familiar faces, new allies, and plenty of enemies determined to stop him.
As always, stealth remains the heart of the experience. Styx is fragile in direct combat, meaning careful planning, patience, and creativity are essential to survival.
Freedom, Verticality, And Stealth Creativity
Cyanide Studio has doubled down on player freedom in this latest entry, encouraging experimentation across large, vertical environments. The Wall of the human lands, the orc village of Turquoise Dawn, and the ruins of Akenash provide sprawling playgrounds for stealth gameplay.
Traversal tools like grappling hooks, gliders, and climbing claws open up new paths and hidden routes, while Metroidvania-style progression gradually expands what Styx can reach.
And of course, classic Amber abilities return, including cloning and invisibility, while Quartz introduces powerful new options such as mind control and time manipulation. Crafting weapons, potions, and traps adds another layer of planning before each infiltration.
Every encounter becomes a puzzle – one that can be solved through creativity rather than brute force.

A Stealth Series With History
Even though Styx: Blades of Greed is not on Game Pass at launch, and doesn’t come with Play Anywhere support, the Styx series has quietly built a reputation among stealth fans over the years.
Our Styx: Master of Shadows review scored the original 4/5, noting: “Styx: Master of Shadows is a joy to play… you’ll find a game that has a hell of a lot of depth to it.”
Styx: Shards of Darkness followed with improvements to scale and ambition, even if repetition occasionally crept in. With Blades of Greed, Cyanide Studio appears focused on refining the formula while expanding player freedom.
For longtime fans, this looks like the most confident Styx adventure yet. For newcomers, it may be the easiest place to jump in.
Greed Has Never Looked So Fun
Stealth games thrive on creativity, patience, and experimentation, and Styx: Blades of Greed seems determined to reward all three. With larger environments, new powers, and Styx finally chasing his own goals, this entry feels like a natural evolution of the goblin assassin’s journey.
You can play Styx: Blades of Greed right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Our review of Styx: Blades of Greed is on the way.
Just remember: if nobody sees you, you never existed.
