Styx is back, just this time he comes with more ambition, a bigger cash budget and a brand new engine powering his adventures.

Styx: Shards of Darkness will release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2016. It’ll give us a chance to go hands-on once again with the old goblin assassin as he returns in a whole new stealth title. Shards of Darkness has been built from the ground up and with a bigger budget in place, bigger ideas and the use of the Unreal 4 engine, it promises to be something pretty special.

Styx will become more nimble but will be full of skills, all of which will need to be put to good use as he explores, creeps and tries to infiltrate Körangar, the city of the Dark Elves. Supposedly impregnable, a diplomatic summit offers Styx a chance at slipping in unnoticed, but with both Elves and Dwarves present, it’s a tough time being a Goblin!

Embark upon a stealthy adventure with new enemies, new environments, and a plethora of new mechanics aimed at refining the abilities and movement of Styx; grappling around corners, climbing ropes, and using his trusty knife as a zip-wire. Shards of Darkness aims to offer unparalleled freedom of movement, along with refined stealth and assassination mechanics, expanding and improving on the strengths of Styx: Master of Shadows.

We will of course bring you more as further details release but if you haven’t played the original, you really should. Our review of Styx: Master of Shadows on Xbox One can be found here.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
