This week, Xbox Game Pass is adding a double dose of simulation experiences, putting you in the boots of everyday heroes. There are a good few more games being added this week too.
Get ready to tackle blazing infernos and patrol the beat as Firefighting Simulator: The Squad and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers both land on the service from May 20th.
Let’s take a look at what each title has to offer.
Firefighting Simulator: The Squad – Answer the Call
(Cloud, Console, and PC) – Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Standard
Grab your axe and breathing apparatus, because Firefighting Simulator: The Squad is bringing the heat to Game Pass.
This simulator puts you in the heart of the action as part of a dynamic firefighting team. You’ll get to experience the intensity of real-life firefighting missions, from tackling house fires to battling large-scale industrial blazes.
And you’ll also need to coordinate with your squad, strategise your approach, and utilise a host of authentic equipment types to extinguish flames and rescue civilians.
While our review noted that “Firefighting Simulator – The Squad manages to capture something of the dangerous (and dare we say) exciting profession,” it also cautioned that “there’s not enough here to prevent it from ending up as a flash in the pan.”
However, for simulation enthusiasts and those curious about the challenges faced by firefighters, this could still offer a unique experience.
Head to the Xbox Store to nab a download of Firefighting Simulator: The Squad on Game Pass this week.
Police Simulator: Patrol Officers – Enforce the Law on the Beat
(Cloud, Console, and PC) – Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Standard
Step into the shoes of law enforcement with Police Simulator: Patrol Officers.
Developed by Aesir Interactive, Police Simulator: Patrol Offers gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the day-to-day life of a patrol officer.
Begin your career and work your way up the ranks by diligently enforcing the law in the fictional American city of Brighton. From issuing parking tickets to responding to emergencies and apprehending suspects, you’ll need to follow procedure and maintain order on your assigned beat.
However, our review offered a less than stellar verdict, stating, “There’s absolutely no faulting the premise of Police Simulator: Patrol Officers… But as soon as you look past that initial premise, pretty much everything else in Police Simulator Patrol Officers goes wrong. It looks rubbish, has visual pop-up galore, draw distances that are no longer than your arm and a whole load of issues relating to how the world around you unfolds… Police Simulator: Patrol Officers should be handing in its badge for lack of care to the community, well before its shift is over.”
Despite our critical assessment, those with a strong interest in law enforcement simulations might still find some value in experiencing the game for themselves through Game Pass. We can’t help but think you’d be better off stumping up the cash for The Precinct instead though.
Anyways, this week’s Game Pass additions offer a glimpse into two demanding professions. Our reviews of each may well provide a critical perspective, yet there’s no doubting the accessibility of Game Pass offers a low-risk opportunity to experience these simulations firsthand.
The question is, will you answer the call of duty? And which uniform will you be suiting up with first? Let us know in the comments.
