Supermassive Games announce The Quarry – a brand new horror experience with friends

Following on from previous projects of PlayStation’s Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, Supermassive Games (in partnership with 2K) have again taken inspiration from the classics in their announcement of The Quarry. 

Arriving on June 10th 2022, this teen-horror narrative game tells the all-too familiar tale of a bunch of horny teen counsellors partying on the last day of the summer camp of Hackett’s Quarry. Things clearly don’t go as expected, and instead the alcohol and blaring music is replaced by murderous locals and blood, guts and gore.

In their announcement, which is accompanied with the announcement trailer found below, 2K’s president had this to say:

“The Quarry is breaking new ground across interactive storytelling and technology to create a truly visceral teen-horror experience,” stated Director Will Byles. “I can’t wait to see the choices you make, who you’ll save, and who you’re willing to sacrifice!”

“As an interactive narrative experience, The Quarry is a completely different type of game from anything 2K has published in the past,” stated David Ismailer, President at 2K. “We are partnering because Supermassive Games are simply the best at what they do, and we’re huge fans of the studio. The chance to work with one of the great creative minds in our industry doesn’t come often, and we are excited to be on this journey together with The Quarry.”

Gameplay-wise, as well as the incredible visuals that fans of Supermassive have become accustomed to, the name of the game is decisions, decisions, decisions, which shape the story in a multitude of ways.

You can also take up to seven online friends along for the ride with you, where you can vote on key decisions together. This is the perfect experience for grabbing some popcorn and some drinks together, setting up the Xbox party and then watching the horror unfold.
