The Surge 2 will arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2019

2026's Best Games

It’s billed by some as the spiritual successor to the Dark Souls series, and it’s loved by many for it’s crushing difficulty, challenging bosses and fantastic combat. But it’s known by all as an RPG action-RPG adventure worth getting stuck into. Yep, the Surge is back!

Whilst we may have seen some new DLC arrive to expand The Surge experience recently, the expected sequel isn’t too far away and today the guys over at Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 have officially announced the renewal of their partnership and confirmation that The Surge 2 will arrive in 2019 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

The Surge 2 plans to keep many of the original features that players enjoyed the most, with hardcore combat, dynamic limb targeting and deep character progression all set to return, but this time the great formula that makes the game what it is, is set to be expanded on further still.

The upcoming sequel will take place in an all new environment – this time in the form of a sprawling and devastated city which looks set to provide a much larger and much more ambitious level design. To achieve this, Deck 13 will be utilising an upgraded game engine to run things, making combat more brutal, and expanding on the applauded limb targeting system whilst adding in all-new abilities, weapons, implants, as well as drones to give players an expansive arsenal to mould their character from.

For more information on The Surge 2, check in soon as more information is set to be unveiled on the upcoming release at Le What’s Next de Focus yearly press event in Paris over the next few days.

I just picked up the complete edition last week so if I enjoy that, I’ll be all over this sequel.
