Get ready for a non-stop, 20-minute battle for your life.
The Let Them Come series, which first appeared as an addictive single-lane shooter, has been reborn as a fast-paced, bullet heaven roguelite – Let Them Come: Onslaught.
It launches today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation.
From developer Tuatara and publisher Digital Bandidos, this is a complete evolution of the original, plunging you into procedurally generated stages where you must survive relentless alien swarms until the nuke arrives.
A “Hugely Addictive” Legacy, Reborn
We’ve been on the front line against this alien menace before.
When we reviewed the original Let Them Come back in 2017, we found it to be a “hugely addictive hit for a single evening.”
Our only real gripe was its longevity, noting that we probably wouldn’t be playing it “weeks and months down the line.“
Let Them Come: Onslaught looks to have solved that problem in the most explosive way possible. It has taken the core concept and expanded it into a full-blown, survivor-like roguelite with a deep progression system, ensuring that no two runs are ever the same.
We’ve been waiting for this one ever since we first reported that you’d be able to “nuke ’em from orbit” in this new sci-fi horror bullet hell.
The 20-Minute War
This is a classic bullet heaven experience at its core. You control your chosen survivor – like the dashing Soldier or the powerful Psychic – while your weapons fire automatically.
You should know the deal by now, but the objective is simple: survive for 20 minutes against a never-ending horde of alien creatures.
As you defeat enemies, you’ll collect XP cubes, level up, and be given a choice of three random upgrades. You can equip up to five weapons, from autoguns and flamethrowers to Photon Sabers and Orbital Strikes, and upgrade each one to a devastating level.
This isn’t just an empty arena though. The game features procedurally generated stages across four distinct worlds. You’ll also have to contend with environmental hazards like lightning strikes, volcanic eruptions, and even speeding trains, which can be just as deadly to you as they are to the aliens.
Your Mission, on Any Device
Let Them Come: Onslaught is a full Xbox Play Anywhere title. This fantastic feature means your fight for survival can continue, no matter which device you’re on. A single digital purchase on the Microsoft Store unlocks the game for you on both your Xbox console and your Windows PC. All of your unlocked upgrades and high scores are synced via the cloud.
Is Let Them Come: Onslaught on Game Pass?
At launch, you won’t be finding Let Them Come: Onslaught as part of your Game Pass subscription.
Of course, that may well change down the line, after-all, Game Pass is a constantly revolved, always evolving subscription service full of games. We’ll let you know should it drop in.
Your Survivalist’s Guide
