It seems like we’re being spoilt for glorious visual adventures at the moment and on the same day as the stunning Sable launches into the world, the charming little adventures of Teacup arrive on PC and console.

Filling up Xbox, PlayStation and PC players today, with Nintendo Switch folk able to get a taste come September 30th, Teacup comes out of the WhiteThorn Games camp, and when they are involved we usually discover something well worth getting our teeth into – Lake and Calico prove that.

Teacup is priced at £8.39, and immediately the visuals sell what it is trying to inject into the gaming scene. This is a wholesome little adventure, one pushed along by a strong narrative and non-linear progression where possible. It sees you playing as the titular character, Teacup; a frog who loves to drink tea and read books. The thing is, she’s about to host a party and discovers that the tea stocks have got low – your adventure will see her heading out into the world to hunt more down.

Premise-wise and Teacup certainly ticks the boxes, but it does the same in visual terms as well – it’s a watercoloured world that is full of vibrancy, characters, minigames and more. We’re pretty sure you’ll find yourself immersed should you decide that Teacup is worth a shot.

Expect the following kind of features to be on show…

  • Explore a beautiful hand-drawn world.
  • Meet a diverse cast of whimsical animals.
  • Help the residents of the forest.
  • Solve challenging logic puzzles.
  • Enjoy a cute, relaxed soundtrack.

We’ll get a full review of Teacup on Xbox out there as soon as we can – with it being optimised for Xbox Series X|S, we’ll be sure to let you know how the graphics pop on next-gen. If you wish to grab a copy of the game for yourself, the Xbox Store will sort you out.

Edit: Our review of Teacup is now live

You’ll also find Teacup playable on PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam. Switch players need to hold until Sept 30th.

Game Description:

Teacup is a short and wholesome narrative adventure game with a focus on exploration and non-linear progression. You play as the titular Teacup, a shy and introverted young frog who loves drinking tea and reading. The day before she is to host a tea party at her house, she realizes she is completely out of tea, and thus must venture into the woods around her to find the herbs she needs to restock her pantry. During your adventure you will meet the charming inhabitants of the forest. Some are talkative, some are grumpy, but all of them will lend you an ear on your adventure. Explore this gorgeous watercolor world filled with friendly animals, playful minigames, puzzles, and beautiful, calming wilderness.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
