Remember when Dead Island 2 was first revealed? Remember the brilliant CGI video that raised our hopes so much? Remember how it was then put on the backburner for years? Forget all that – Dead Island 2 is finally here! Are you ready to visit HELL-A?

It’s been the best part of a decade since Dead Island 2 was first unveiled to the world, but it’s safe to say that between then and now, the developmental process has been a bit tricky. But finally it launches to the world, as Deep Silver and Dambuster Games give players the chance to visit Los Angeles – or HELL-A as they would prefer you know it by.

Available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, Dead Island 2 sees us following the life and times of six Slayers, previous survivors who are trying to make it through a zombie infested world. Amy, Bruno, Dani, Ryan, Carla and Jacob need your help.

You see, LA has been hit by a zombie virus, turning it into HELL-A as you look to try and uncover the secrets found within, understanding how and why this outbreak has taken hold. With various real-world locales to take in like Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and more, if you have been holding out for the release of Dead Island 2, we’d guess you’ll jump straight in, no questions asked.

That would be good too because we wholeheartedly recommend a trip to HELL-A. We’ve been playing this one for a little while, reviewing it very positively with a 4.5/5 review score in place. We mentioned that whilst ‘there’s a zombie apocalypse happening, but Dead Island 2 might be the most fun end-of-days yet.’, hyping up the killing, the variety of killing and the feel of killing. We love the killing in Dead Island 2.

Much of that is down to the new F.L.E.S.H. system that lets you dismember zombies like never before, whilst the sheer number of weapons and skills available will ensure you get to play this one how you see fit. You’ll need to mix and match too – for there are tons of different zombies coming at you in Dead Island 2.

The key game features include:

  • Explore HELL-A – Dead Island 2 takes players across the most iconic locations of the City of Angels, now stained with horror, in an exciting pulp journey from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach.
  • Brutal Melee Sandbox – Combat delivers the most intense, visceral and gory first person experience possible, with plenty of weapons and tactical (and brutal) options to chew your way through the zombie horde. Whether you’re slicing, smashing, burning or ripping, we want you to truly feel it.
  • Be the Ultimate Zombie Slayer – There are six characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and dialogues. You can fully customize the abilities of each Slayer, with our brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec instantly and try out the craziest builds.
  • Zombie Infestation – Ready to experience the most advanced dismemberment system in games? Our LA is crawling with zombies that look and react realistically. These mutated wretches are the reanimated, rotten heart of Dead Island 2 with dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations, attacks and hundreds of visual LA-themed variants. Our monsters are relentless, challenging, and true Los Angelinos. Will you be able to survive?
  • A Cinematic Co-op Adventure – As a proper RPG experience, Dead Island 2 offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story, to truly immerse you in its twisted universe. Re-playability is guaranteed. Add an over-the-top co-op mode for up to three players, and you’ll stay in LA for a very long (and gory) trip.
  • Alexa Game Control – Use your voice to swap weapons, set waypoints, goad zombies, and much more, available first on Dead Island 2. Play with any microphone or headset, no Alexa device required.

You’ll find Dead Island 2 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Xbox Store, with a Standard Edition in place for £59.99, whilst a Deluxe Edition adds to the base game with the GOLDEN WEAPONS PACK, the Character Pack 1 – Silver Star Jacob and Character Pack 2 – Cyber Slayer Amy included. That one will set you back £64.99.

Finally there’s the big Gold Edition of Dead Island 2. Again that builds in terms of what is on offer in the Deluxe Edition, adding the PULP WEAPONS Pack and the Dead Island 2 Expansion Pass – expect two new chapters to arrive in game post-launch, with new missions, foes, weapons, abilities and more to explore.

Dead Island 2 is also on PlayStation and PC.

Game Description:

The much-loved zombie saga is back with a unique formula of horror, dark humor and over the top zombie-slaying, spanning an epic pulp adventure. Dead Island 2 is a thrilling First-Person Action RPG, stylish, vibrant and flooded with zombie infection. Explore an iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters.
