Take an emotional trip into the mind with Figment 2: Creed Valley

We had the privilege of playing and reviewing the original Figment, released at the end of 2022 after five years of success on PC and Switch. It was a game that aged like a fine wine, and showed nothing of the delay in coming to Xbox. It was a feast for the senses, as they say, with beautiful, painterly art, some bouncy tunes, and an emotional wallop at the end. We gave it a fully deserved 4/5, and would happily play it all over again.

You can imagine our excitement that Figment 2: Creed Valley is out now, mere months after the first game released. Again, it follows the story of Dusty and Piper, the Mind’s bravery and optimism, as they buddy-up to take out any nightmares that rampage through the psyche. Through combat and puzzles, they return the Mind to normalcy.

This time out, their enemy is The Jester, a hedonistic nightmare who is trying to bring some unwanted fun, games and dancing to the Mind. But it’s causing the Moral Compass to go haywire, breaking apart the mind and generally causing anarchy. Sounds like you’re needed.

“We are super excited for players finally to get their hands on Figment 2: Creed Valley. The team has put a lot of effort into creating a game that is not only fun and engaging to play, but also has a story that sticks with you when you are done playing. I hope the players will find time to really listen to the music, look at the world and appreciate the love that was put into even the smallest details of the game.” Klaus Pedersen, Founder Bedtime Digital Games.

We reviewed Figment 2: Creed Valley, and it’s lost none of its charm. It’s still a cacophony of music, farting plants and grumbling Opinions – the towns-folk you meet in the world. What has changed is that there is optional co-op play now, if you want to pester enemies as Piper, and there’s slightly less emphasis on puzzles, and more emphasis on combat and mystery-solving, as you investigate an assault and explore a world of failed Opinions.

A little has been lost in the transition to a sequel, mainly because the structure is near-identical to the first game, and combat was never Figment’s strong point, but it’s still well worth a play. Read our verdict in the review to find out more.

Figment 2: Creed Valley is available on the Xbox Store now for £21.74. It’s also on Playstation, Switch and PC through Steam.

Game Description:

Figment 2: Creed Valley is an action-adventure game set in the human mind. Nightmares are spreading chaos and have overrun once-peaceful lands. Join Dusty, The Mind’s courage, as you make your way through puzzles, musical boss fights and unique environments. Face your fears head-on. Nightmares have shattered the Moral Compass, making The Mind unable to function properly. Dusty and his ever-optimistic sidekick, Piper, must travel to Creed Valley, where The Mind’s ideals are formed to restore peace. A journey filled with musical showdowns and mind-bending puzzles awaits.
