We’ll be honest, every single time we’ve read the words ‘Skeletal Avenger’, our minds have instantly been taken to He-Man’s arch enemy, Skeletor. And even though we’d love this to be a He-Man inspired effort, it’s not. There’s still a good chance that Skeletal Avenger emerges onto Xbox as something of a Master of the Universe though.
Coming out of the 10tons studio (they previously behind the likes of Time Recoil and JYDGE from a few years back), Skeletal Avenger is instead a hack and slashing roguelite (isn’t everything these days!?) in which you’ll be tasked with re-animating the skeletor beings and fighting your way through a quest for vengeance.
Good set up eh? Well, there’s a pretty decent price attached to Skeletal Avenger too, with a £14.24 asking price all you need to stump up for this fun-filled, rather boned out adventure. And of course, with the roguelite elements in tow you should expect to find this allowing you to work with and amend your playstyle at every opportunity, as perks, loot and combos all come to the fore.
With four rather unique biomes to navigate your way through, endless amounts of procedurally generated dungeons to fully explore, a huge range of enemies to takedown, and a ton of skills to upgrade, there’s much to immediately love about how Skeletal Avenger plays out. Whether it works or not will be unveiled in our upcoming full review of the game on Xbox, but with full Xbox Series X|S optimisation in place, there’s a chance this could well succeed.
