Take to the ice with NHL 22 and the X-Factor Edition

It’s silly season in the gaming world and that means EA will happily fill out our digital libraries with the annual drops of their sports titles. We’ve had FIFA 22 and been very impressed with it, Madden NFL 22 was equally good and worthy of an upgrade. Now it’s time to take to the ice with NHL 22 – and especially the X-Factor Edition.

Available to purchase, download and play right now, NHL 22 pucks off ahead of the official street date thanks to the power of the X-Factor. But don’t be mistaken, there is no Leona Lewis or Olly Murs here, in fact there’s not even a Steve Brookstein either, instead what you are getting is full access to the power of the NHL with the X-Factor Edition allowing full dual generation entitlement alongside a breaking of that street date.

Of course, should you wish to wait until October 15th and get access to the Standard Edition of NHL 22 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 or PC then you can well do so. But for us, the earlier we can get in the better.
NHL 22 X-Factor Edition allows play on both generations of console – so for us, that’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – along with the 3-days early access. But that’s not all and whilst NHL 22 will come with some serious overhaul, with unrivaled visuals, tons of authenticity and multiple game modes – HUT, World of Chel and more – and promises to be the breakthrough hockey game you have always wanted, there are even further additions included.

Yep, the X-Factor Edition brings Diamond Player Choice Packs at a rate of 2 per month , adds Power-Up Packs too, ensures that you’ll have instant unlocked access to some World of Chel goodies, and will be able to build out your Be A Pro options with new slots, boosts and bonus traits.

Oh, and if you’re still not sold, the soundtrack sounds immense with some big hitters in the form of Modest Mouse, Dropkick Murphys, twenty one pilots, My Morning Jacket, KennyHoopla & Travis Barker, Royal Blood, Machine Gun Kelly, Imagine Dragons and more all present. Again, there’s no Brookstein.

We’re fully expecting NHL 22 to build nicely on what was provided in NHL 21 last year, and taking the FIFA and Madden routes as read, EA are certainly on a bit of a roll. Be sure to take in our full review of NHL 22 on Xbox Series X|S in the coming days to discover how it really plays out.

For now you can grab access yourself via that NHL 22 X-Factor Edition. It’ll cost you £89.99 unless you have an EA Play subscription in tow in which case there’s a nifty 10% discount. Alternatively, save a little cash and grab the Standard Edition come October 15th.

Let us know what you think once you’ve taken to the ice.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
